YellowSend is an application that claims to enable you to “send anyfile, anysize, anywhere,” but we have found worrisome traits when we tested it, and arrived at the conclusion that this is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) at best. This PUP can pose a serious threat to your system since it has the capability to spread malware. What’s more, it usually enters your computer along with a lot of different adware applications and other malware infections. Its presence on your PC is definitely not a good sign. We certainly think that your virtual security might be at risk unless you remove YellowSend. But we let you be the judge of that. Once you finish reading our article, we are sure that you will be able to make the right decision.
YellowSend has a promotional website that you can find at yellowsend.com. This PUP poses as a very useful application that can send “any number of files of unlimited size to anywhere faster for Free” from your desktop. It displays a small hot air balloon widget, which you can click on and the UI pops up. You can also right-click any file or folder and choose “Send or Share with YellowSend” from the menu to send it to any recipient. It all sounds good, of course; however, you cannot download the app. No matter which one of the three download buttons you click on, you will only get an error message that the page is unavailable. But this is not the only suspicious functionality glitch. Try to use the sender that is offered on the site. Allegedly, you can send files up to 100Mb over the web. The only problem is that you cannot actually download the sent files. Does this PUP strike you as a reliable application? If you still do not think that these may be signs of a questionable program, let us tell you more about it.
Unfortunately, YellowSend does not only spread via its website, as a matter of fact, we just explained that you cannot even download it from there. So how do you think it can appear on users’ computers? You may already know the answer – via freeware bundles. But the sad truth about this PUP is that it may come with several adware programs, such as Couponarific and PC Optimizer Pro, and, of course, other malware threats as well. These bundles can be downloaded from questionable freeware and torrent sites. Do you still think that you can trust an application that uses this kind of distribution method? These malware infections may expose you and your computer to unsafe third-party content and even cyber criminals. Deleting YellowSend only will not protect your system from all of the threats; you should make sure that no infection remains on-board.
Finally, let us provide you with a clear-cut solution. The one good and functioning thing about this PUP seems to be its removal. You can simply uninstall it via Control Panel. If you have not ever uninstalled programs, please follow our instructions below. This should not take more than a minute. However, since YellowSend may have come with malware infections on-board, we advise you to install a reliable antimalware application to sort out all the threats that may be present on your computer. Remember that with an updated security tool you can have full-time protection from all the known infections.
