Sometimes a computer security threat is not as dangerous as it would like you to think. XGroupVN Ransomware might look like a severe infection, but the program does not live up to its promises. It only scares users and hopes it will be enough to push them into spending their money for nothing. Keep your head on and try to assess this situation calmly. Since the program does not do anything a genuine ransomware application should do, you can remove XGroupVN Ransomware without worrying about your files or personal information. It is just a nuisance that you can deal with pretty swiftly.

When a malicious ransomware infection enters target computer, it usually locks the screen and displays a ransom note. The ransom note says that your files have been encrypted and now you have to pay to get them back. Needless to say, a genuine ransomware program also encrypts a number of user files, and users can no longer access them because the information within the files gets completely scrambled. This is the main reason most of the ransomware applications manage to bully users into paying the ransom fee. XGroupVN Ransomware tries to do the very same thing, too.

However, this application cannot lock your screen, and it does not encrypt your files. At least the sample we worked with did not do anything to our files. Therefore, we can assume that the application is underdeveloped, and it only relies on fear to reach its aim. It tries to spook users into believing that their files have been encrypted and now they must pay the price. This is exactly what the ransom note says. Although XGroupVN Ransomware does not lock your screen, you will see the notification in a pop-up. The text in the message is as follows:

Your should Know, all your personal computer has been encrypted, all your file in C:, please click {XG} for more information

With that, the infection expects you to click the XG button. Normally, clicking such a button would redirect users to websites that tell them more about the ransom transaction. However, when we tried to click the button on the pop-up, nothing happened. It seems that the program is nothing but a hoax, and perhaps it is just in the first steps of development.

Nevertheless, it means that the creators of XGroupVN Ransomware can use the same distribution methods, later on, to infect users with their new programs. So you need to know how this program spreads to avoid its newer versions in the future. The most important thing is to avoid downloading spam email attachments. XGroupVN Ransomware usually spreads with spam email messages that look like legitimate notices from official companies. However, if you get a message from a bank, and you do not have an account in that bank, it is obviously the first sign that the notification might be part of a malware scam.

To remove XGroupVN Ransomware from your computer, you need to find all the files associated with this program. Usually, it will be an .exe file in your Downloads folder or any other directory where you save downloaded files. Also, you should scan your PC with a security tool to see whether your PC is absolutely clean. You can never know what other unwanted threats might be hiding in the depths of your system.
