If you find Web-starter.biz set up as your homepage on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Internet Explorer browsers, there is a chance that your browsers were hijacked. Have you modified your homepage URL yourself? If you have not, it is most likely that your browser was modified illegally, and that is not something you can ignore. Even if your homepages was modified with your permission, there are plenty of reasons why you should consider that a mistake and why removing the suspicious search tool is the right idea. Our research team has analyzed this search tool, and we can help you understand why deleting Web-starter.biz is recommended. Please continue reading, and you will know exactly what kinds of risks you might encounter if you do not get rid of the browser hijacker.

It was found that Web-starter.biz is most likely to be introduced to you via software bundles. As you might know, some bundles are harmless, but some are malicious. We do not claim that the bundle you have executed was full of malicious threats, but you should not reject that possibility. Malware creators are very inventive, and they can create very believable exteriors. In reality, what might look like a regular program could turn out to be a devious Trojan. Due to this, you should never judge a program by its looks or the official information that promotes it. Instead, do your own research and always trust a malware scanner that can easily identify malware, regardless of how misleading its exterior might be. If you are looking for a legitimate malware scanner that could help you figure out which programs are legitimate and which ones require removal, you can click the Download link below.

Did you know that Web-starter.biz comes from the same family as esurf.biz, safebrowsing.biz, and other well-known browser hijackers? All of them are hosted on the same server, but that is not the only thing that they have in common. They also have identical interfaces! It is possible that these hijackers were created by the same company, but it is also possible that they were modeled after one program. The most disconcerting thing about these hijackers is not that they redirect to third-party sites – which we will discuss further in the report – but the fact that they are not supported by legal information. Did you notice that there are no links to pages that would represent privacy policies, terms of use, or similar statements? If you think that this is no big deal, you are wrong. Because this information does not exist, we do not know if the hijacker is reliable, and the risk of it being malicious is a reason to remove it ASAP.

So, did you find Web-starter.biz redirecting you to a third-party search engine? Was it plusnetwork.com? Although you might be provided with search results, note that most of them are ads/sponsored links. Again, we do not know enough about the hijacker to know if the content behind the sponsored links is harmless. For all we know, the hijacker’s creator could be affiliated with malicious parties using it to introduce you to malware or virtual scams. On top of that, unauthorized redirecting to unfamiliar pages is always considered malicious. In fact, even if you are redirected to a familiar page, you should be concerned that a program is capable of redirecting you without your notice or permission. Needless to say, that is another good reason for you to remove this hijacker from your browsers.

Our research team recommends removing Web-starter.biz from your browsers as soon as possible. If you employ an automated malware remover, the components of the hijacker will be erased along with third-party malware. Furthermore, your operating system will be guarded to keep malware away in the future. If you wish to get rid of the hijacker in a manual manner, you need to change the Target – which is what the hijacker modifies to introduce you to the hijacker – and modify the homepage. We have prepared instructions on how to do that on the most popular web browsers.
