Total Security is a fake anti-virus program, successor to Antivirus 360. It uses extremely malicious tricks in order to mislead users into buying its phony full version.

Hackers exploit Trojans, hidden in hacked websites, as a transmitter of the rogue infection. These Trojans do not seek permission when entering a computer, but sneak in it and immediately start producing fake alerts and notifications. Then Total Security is downloaded without the user's knowledge.

The rogue is automatically launched right after its installation. It's fake scanning tool is started, and though it pretends to be working on detecting viruses, it is uncapable of doing so. A fake list of infections appears as a result of the scan in an attempt to frighten the user, and as if this is not enough, the program also floods the PC with bogus warnings such as the ones below:

With every step of its malevolent plan, the rogue aims at forcing through its paid version. It even displays a Total Security Protection Center window, which imitates Windows Security Center, and states that a number of threats is targeting the computer and Total Security should be purchased to keep the viruses away. All of this is a big scam, of course, but to prove the legitimacy of this message, the malignant application highjacks Internet Explorer and blocks most anti-spyware websites.

Since this villain is also capable of preventing some of the popular anti-virus programs, you must first kill the running Total Security processes and then run a full scan of your system with your genuine AV tool to get rid of the infection.
