It would seem as though the developers of the well-known and highly despised Think Point rogue antispyware application have been hard at work on their latest rogue, Think Smart. This rogue, which forms part of the hated fake Microsoft Security Essentials scam, does not have the ability to detect or remove any type of threat from the system, and was designed merely to rip consumers off.
Think Smart enters the system under false pretenses without the user’s permission or knowledge and will only reveal its presence once it is ready to start its attack against the system. This will usually be heralded by Think Smart initiating a fake system scan which will yield bogus results. It uses fake online malware scanners and seditious browser hijackers to facilitate its surreptitious infiltration of the PC.
Once the fake system scan completes the user will find himself presented with numerous fake security alerts in the form of pop up messages. These pop ups were designed to further panic the user into thinking his PC is under attack, and that he needs to purchase Think Smart. This is completely outrageous, and users are urged never to pay for any Think Smart product.
Users reported increased erratic system behavior and poor system performance. This is due to Think Smart consuming many valuable system resources. Other symptoms include randomly generated and deleted Desktop items and certain system folders being hidden from the user.
When all is said and done the only way you will be able to secure your PC is to permanently destroy Think Smart. This can easily be done by using the removal power of a genuine security tool which will not only erase Think Smart but also protect against similar future attacks.
