A browser hijacker named is unlikely to slither into your operating system silently; however, you might be tricked into letting this threat in. According to the latest research, this hijacker is usually introduced to users using an extension called “Starttab.” Both are created by the same company, and there is no doubt that the extension was created only to spread the hijacker because it does not have any other purpose. Whether or not you are informed about it, the extension modifies New Tab and/or homepage settings, and that is pretty strange. This add-on does not even have an official installer, which is why it is not surprising that it usually represented via unfamiliar installer and bundled with third-party software. Overall, the invasion/entrance of the hijacker is very strange, and that is a red flag. Unfortunately, once it slithers in, it can be dangerous. Due to this, we suggest deleting ASAP.

There are hundreds of hijackers and extensions that are analogous to and Starttab. A few recent hijackers from this family include,, and They all redirect to Yahoo Search, and that is something that you have to pay close attention to. redirects to this popular search engine because you are more likely to trust the search results shown via it than the hijacker itself. The problem here is that sponsored third-party advertisements can be represented via this search engine, and, unfortunately, it is possible that interacting with them could be very dangerous. Are you sure that the advertisers or the developer of the hijacker itself can introduce you only to legitimate and useful offers? On the contrary, it is more likely that unreliable, useless, and even misleading offers will be shown via Yahoo Search. Of course, you might be able to evade unreliable links, but do you want to take the risk, especially when the hijacker does not offer other services?

If you think you are safe if you ignore, you are completely wrong. As long as this hijacker is active, it can spy on you and even record personal information, which it does using tracking cookies and other technologies. The worst part about this whole thing is that the data recorded by the cookies can be shared with parties we know nothing about. Unfortunately, the hijacker is not transparent, and that makes it very unpredictable. Do you want to have information about you – especially, personal information – shared with unknown parties? We are sure you do not, which is why when you remove, make sure you also get rid of the cookies. The good news is that it is not a complicated task, and it does not take much time. If you do not eliminate cookies, information about you could be gathered even after the hijacker is erased. Note that if you have interacted with unreliable ads, even more unreliable ads could be active.

Hopefully, you can remove by changing the homepage and erasing the cookies as shown in the instructions below. Of course, all extensions and other suspicious programs that have entered your operating system along with this hijacker must be eliminated as well. Although you might be able to identify and erase all threats yourself, we suggest saving time by employing a reliable anti-malware tool. Once all infections are eliminated automatically, this tool can continue guarding your operating system against threats, which, needless to say, is extremely important. Have you decided to eliminate the hijacker and all associated threats yourself? Use the guides on our websites, but do not forget to employ security software afterward.
