PiccShare may seem like a useful tool for you if you like to share pictures online. Roll over on any photo or image you find on the Web and then the PiccShare tab will appear, allowing you to post the picture on Facebook or Twitter with a single click. But you should know that this program is not completely reliable. First of all, its developers try to trick people by bundling it with free software programs. Second, the application displays advertisements that contain redirect links to untrustworthy pages. Therefore, we consider removal of the application a security measure that every cautious user needs to implement.
One suspicious thing about PiccShare is that it can be found in packages with other software applications. You should be aware that those packages may even contain harmful programs. So, please be very attentive when downloading and installing applications from freeware distribution sources. You could prevent malicious applications from entering your system by going for the Advanced installation mode. It will allow you to deselect all the unwanted applications that come along with the program you have recently downloaded.
There is something even more suspicious about PiccShare. The program claims to be safe and have no “spyware, adware, or viruses of any kind.” But this information is a little bit misleading. This program’s Privacy Policy states that PiccShare will show you commercial advertisements. What’s more, the application monitors your browsing habits and updates the ads using the gathered information.
You may ask what is wrong with those advertisements, especially if they offer you goods you are interested in. The answer is that the ads are provided by third parties and any click on any ad will redirect you to third party websites. Even if the offer placed in an advertisement looks relevant to you, you should refrain from clicking on it. You never know what kind of website you may find yourself on. You may land even on an infected site and a dangerous virus, or a Trojan horse could enter your PC. We do not claim that every advertisement generated by PiccShare is dangerous to click on, but some of them really are.
Removal of PiccShare will surely increase the level of your online safety. We have prepared a guide to help you get rid of the application. Please note that deleting PiccShare from your program list will remove the extension only from the Internet Explorer browser. You will need to implement some additional steps if you use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. The adware application can also be eliminated by a trustworthy security tool. The latter will detect all the other threats that may already be damaging your system and will wipe them out from your device. We suggest that you use an automated antimalware scanner, as it is very hard to detect all the possible infections by hand. Please contact us via our social network channels and we will provide a recommendation on what scanner will best suit your needs.
