PBot is an adware program that can be exploited by malevolent third parties for a number of shady activities. The problem with this infection is that users often may not be aware that they have this application on their computers. Hence, regular system scans are extremely important when one wants to protect their system from similar threats. You can find the manual instructions for PBot removal below this description, but you should seriously get yourself a legitimate antispyware tool that will safeguard your system from various intruders in the future.

The program itself is written in the Python programming language, and it is usually dropped on the target system by an exploit kit. Which means that users may install PBot on their systems accidentally when they click outgoing links on various websites that support third-party advertising. Once again, this shows that users need to know how to recognize potential threats when they browse the web. Needless to say, no one would install a security threat on their system willingly, but it often happens accidentally because users fail to employ safe web browsing habits. What’s more, PBot might be just one of the many unwanted and potentially harmful applications installed on your PC, so you might want to scan your system with a security tool like now.

Our research team believes that PBot was mostly created by Russian cyber criminals because Russian websites are white-listed, and the adware does not affect them. It is said that not targeting Russian people saves Russian hackers a lot of trouble, and the Russian government may even overlook their criminal activity if the local people are not victimized.

When PBot starts working, this application may execute man-in-the-browser (MITB) attacks and inject malicious scripts into legitimate websites. It can also force a site’s certificate, infiltrating into the page, and turning a legitimate website into a medium for malware distribution.

Of course, for the most part, an adware program is used to display commercial advertisements. As far as we can see, PBot might as well be configured to display harmless ads that users might feel compelled to click because of the custom content. Nevertheless, depending on who is making use of this application, PBot could also be used to configure a website’s content, and that’s where the main problems might begin.

There is an entire list of processes that could be affected by this application. We have Firefox.exe, Chrome.exe, Chromium.exe, Opera.exe, Amigo.exe, Iexplore.exe, MicrosoftEdge.exe, MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe, and Browser.exe. As you can see, PBot mainly affects web browsers, and it can be an extremely intrusive bugger.

Our research team says that it is possible to remove PBot via Control Panel, but we will give the manual removal guidelines, where you will have to delete the program’s files and registry entries. If you do not feel like getting your hands dirty with this, you can always leave it to a reliable antispyware tool to do everything for you. The thing is that you should definitely safeguard your computer against various threats by investing in a security tool, and that time is probably now.
