Here is one pointless application that you should remove. It is called MyOneSearch. This application will furrow the eyebrows of many of you, because its sole purpose is to change your homepage and search engine to Bing.com. We really do not understand why this application was developed. It is not malicious, but it is not good either. In this article we will provide all the information available about this browser extension, so you could decide whether you want to keep it or not.

This extension has been developed by ClientConnect Ltd, which is based in Holon, Israel. The company is also known for developing a search tool, called Trovigo.com. It appears that the company has not been developing products for a long time, but now it is back with this browser extension. MyOneSearch is disseminated via a dedicated download website, called Myonesearch.net. It might also be bundled, but we have not found any software bundles that contained this application. However, MyOneSearch seems to be the kind of application that you could find on freeware distributing websites, such as Brothersoft.com or Softpedia.com, because, technically, it is not an infection. But it seems that for now, the only means of disseminating this extension if via the website.

If you install this application, it will automatically change your browser’s homepage and search engine to Bing.com. However, if you go to your browser settings you will see that the homepage address is actually Trovi.com. It seems that the application is actually more concerned with promoting Trovi.com as opposed to Bing.com. It only redirects you to Bing.com. The reason for this is unknown, but it seems that the developers want to generate web traffic to this particular website.

The privacy policy found on the programs website states that the application can show commercial content. However, it seems that the advertisements are inactive at this time, at least we did not notice any annoying pop-ups, coupons, and banners. It is also stated that the third-party content may be in the form of applications, buttons, gadgets, links to third-party advertisements, websites, and so on.

Furthermore, the application has the ability to collect information about our browsing habits. It might gather information, such as computer specifications, use of MyOneSearch and third-party applications, IP address, Internet service provider, search queries, websites visited, and a lot more. Allegedly, the information is gathered to improve the quality of both the program and the services it provides. But we really doubt that MyOneSearch could morph into something useful, ever.

Obviously, this extension does not improve browsing experience, since it only promotes a shady website that will redirect you to Bing.com. So you might want to remove this application and set your own preferred webpage, you do not need an application that for you. The fact that the program can display commercial ads is another reason why you should remove MyOneSearch.
