International Police Association (I.P.A.) Virus does sound and look intimidating, but if you look at it closely, it is nothing else but a slightly modified Trojan. This ransomware infection is known to be caused by Trojan:Win32/LockScreen.CI and the main reason why you are seeing the warning message with an IPA logo on it is... MONEY. Naturally, cyber criminals have created International Police Association (I.P.A.) Virus in order to rip unsuspecting users off by scaring them into believing that they have committed a terrible crime.

Anyone would lose his calm with such words as "child pornography" slapped across a message that has an International Police Association badge attached to it. However, even so, before losing one's mind and paying $50 or $100 for this scam no questions asked, one should really consider all the possibilities - legitimate security messages rarely lock you out of your computer. This International Police Association (I.P.A.) Virus is nothing, but a scam and you will do yourself a favor if you get rid of it as soon as possible.

One peculiar thing about International Police Association (I.P.A.) Virus is that it is not available in English. So far it has been attacking European internet users in various countries, determining the user interface language according to the infected computer's IP address. Thus, International Police Association (I.P.A.) Virus warning message can be delivered in German, Finnish, Polish, French, Spanish and other European languages. Even though the languages are different, the contents of the message are the same:

Ihr Computer wurde gesperrt
Ihr Computer wurde durch das System der automatischen Informationskontrolle gesperrt
Die Ursache dafur kann wie sein:
1) Ihr Computer wurde zur Betrachtung von verbotenen Webseiten benutzt
2) Ihr Computer wurde zur Betrachtung von Webseiten benutzt, die Elemente der Kinderpornographie enthalten

The message above in German basically says that the computer has been locked by an automatic information control system due to the fact that you have been browsing prohibited websites and web-pages that contain "elements of child pornography". With this message displayed, you cannot access your Desktop, but thankfully, International Police Association (I.P.A.) Virus is not an extremely dangerous infection and you can bypass the warning message by rebooting your computer and loading it in Safe Mode with Networking.

Safe Mode with Networking allows you to access the Internet and download a computer safeguard program of choice. Afterwards, it is not that hard to remove International Police Association (I.P.A.) Virus automatically using the downloaded program. Just remember that you cannot pay for this scam and the sooner you get rid of it, the better.
