Category: Adware Redirect is an adware server that can redirect you to potentially harmful websites. This adware server cannot be installed on your computer because that is simply not how such things work. On the other hand, there definitely are programs that could make use of this tool to promote some content. So you basically have to make sure that you delete all the unwanted applications from your computer, and this annoying Redirect pop-up should not appear anymore. However, if you are not sure about your manual removal skills, you can always invest in a security program that will do the job for you.

Our research team was not able to find any programs that openly make use of this adware server, but it is clear that potentially unwanted programs or browser hijackers might employ Redirect to redirect users to third-party websites. It means that you could have installed some unwanted program that works behind your back. Although you might say that you would never do that willingly, adding an unfamiliar and potentially dangerous program to your computer is a lot easier than you think. It is especially relevant if you often download programs from file-sharing websites.

File-sharing websites host a lot of third-party installers that tend to bundle several applications together. It means that the file you download carries more than one program, and when you launch it, you may automatically install several applications without even realizing it. Users tend to go through the installation blindly, missing the steps where they could choose to deselect unnecessary features and programs. Therefore, it is clear that you can avoid a lot of computer security-related issues if you are more careful about the things you download and install on your PC. It is not just about the security program that you use. It is also about the way you behave online.

As mentioned, Redirect itself is not much of a threat. Everything depends on what is using this adware server. If it is a browser hijacker, then there is a good chance that you will experience constant redirections to unfamiliar pages. Most of the content you will see via Redirect will be commercial. Perhaps someone will try to sell you a perfect diet formula or anything else related to your latest search history. The programs that use such adware servers usually can monitor your online activities via tracking cookies, so they will more or less know what kind of things you look for online.

You should remove everything that could be using Redirect from your system as soon as possible because it is a risk you should not take. While this adware server is merely a vehicle for content distribution, it can always be hijacked by something malicious. If that happens, you would soon be infected with malware, and then you would have a serious problem at hand. So it is always better to prevent something from happening rather than deal with the consequences.
