How often have you wished Facebook had a dislike button? You cannot really like all the posts you see, and sometimes it just feels weird when you “like” an entry that simply should not be liked, right? DislikeOnFb is supposed to provide you with that kind of button, but during our tests we have found that this application is nothing more than an adware program that enters target systems for monetary purposes. It would be in your best interests to remove DislikeOnFb from your browser and your computer. You should not tolerate adware programs that slow down your system performance and expose you to unreliable third-party content.
We would not say anything about DislikeOnFb if it performed its main function. Actually, this application has an official page, and you can easily access it via dislikeonfb.com. The official website even points out that “by clicking the button above and download the DislikeOnFb extension,” you accept “and agree to abide by the End User License Agreement.” In other words, this application tries to look as reliable as possible, but at the same time it washes its hands of anything that might happen to you while using the software. As always, you should think carefully before you endorse unfamiliar third-party applications.
What’s more, the official homepage is obviously not the only distribution source for DislikeOnFb. The application might as well come bundled with other freeware and adware. For example, if you have no idea how this extension was added to your browser, it is very likely that it was installed along with several other programs when you downloaded some application from a file-sharing website. This is one of the many reasons we discourage users from downloading freeware from third-party sources. File hosting websites often contain many fake download links that users click accidentally. As a result, they end up downloading multiple unwanted programs to their computers.
Now, as far as the functionality of DislikeOnFb is concerned, the application does not deliver. Although the promotional images on the main website show the Dislike button on a mock Facebook profile page, when you actually install the application, no such button appears at all. And if that were not enough, the application also displays coupon offers, commercial ads, and random pop-ups. This kind of behavior can seriously disrupt your web browsing experience. Not to mention that the DislikeOnFb ads might also be embedded with outgoing links that lead you to unreliable websites.
To put it simply, keeping DislikeOnFb on your computer is not such a good idea. Please delete this extension from your browser and then search for other potential threats that might be installed on your computer. We provide the manual removal guide below this description, but, once again, we would like to emphasize that manual removal is not enough to ensure your system’s security.
Acquire a legitimate antispyware application to help you find all the unwanted programs running on your system. It may be possible to remove some of the applications manually via Control Panel, but some files and registry entries may require professional treatment.
