DailyProductivityTools Toolbar is a fairly useless browser extension that has just hit the web. This questionable extension is a newcomer in the notorious Mindspark family that also includes GetCouponsFast Toolbar and ProductManualsFinder Toolbar among dozens of others. This particular toolbar features the usual main search engine page as well and is themed as a tool that helps you pay bills, make notes, organize your daily activities, and more. The problem is that while these easy-access links may seem to be useful to you, this extension may also expose you to questionable third-party content through modified search results. In fact, we have categorized this application as a potentially unwanted program, or PUP. Since this PUP can sneak onto your system in a software package filled with malicious installers, you may be in more trouble than it seems right now on the surface. We suggest that you remove DailyProductivityTools Toolbar right now and make sure that you do not leave any other potentially harmful programs either on your PC.
The products of this family usually have a promotional page that is very simple with hardly any information and direct installation possibility. This PUP is available at DailyProductivityTools.com/index.jhtml, where you can click on the “Free Download” button and install this tool right away. Well, after you click on the usual “Add extension” button offered on the pop-up that tries to give you a hint of what kind of permissions you are about to give to this application. This window is greatly ignored by most users and this is a big mistake indeed. Another place where you can find this tool officially is obviously the good old Chrome web store, chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dailyproductivitytools/difcnlhbpohkmlhkpkimihocbagbijii. This site shows that so far only four users have installed this questionable extension, so we would not call it too popular just yet. But these are only the official channels, so you may not feel like you want to delete DailyProductivityTools Toolbar based on what you have heard so far.
Unfortunately, you can also install this PUP without your noticing it, i.e., when you are installing a free program that you downloaded from a questionable file-sharing website and may not have realized that it arrived in a bundle. This bundle may contain PUPs like this one and what is worse, it can also pack a number of malicious software installers, such as adware programs, browser hijackers, Trojans, fake alerts, and more. Letting such a lot onto your system could seriously increase the vulnerability of your virtual world. This is why you should not click on questionable and random third-party ads or visit suspicious websites, including online gaming, gambling, dating, torrent, and freeware pages. If you are in doubt, we recommend that you delete DailyProductivityTools Toolbar right now and use a proper malware scanner to identify all other potential threat sources to be able to deal with them as well.
All the toolbars in the Mindspark family have their own theme; well, unless they are identical clones of previous ones of course. This particular PUP gives you access to “tools that allow you to manage online bill payments to save time and money” and provides you with organizing tools. In addition to these rather useless features, you are also offered a well-known risk source, a questionable search engine. This PUP uses the search.myway.com search engine that can modify search results and display a seemingly legitimate Google results page. However, this page could contain unreliable third-party advertisements and promoted affiliates’ links. Obviously, this is the only way for this useless tool to make money for its creators.
The problem is that these ads and links may take you to malicious websites where you could be scammed into downloading further infections disguised as urgent software updates or you could also believe that you are buying a product at a very low prices and instead, simply give up your banking details to criminals. It is always risky to keep such a tool on your system unless you like such challenges and want to lose money or infect your machine to the point where it will simply become crippled. This is why we advise you to remove DailyProductivityTools Toolbar as soon as possible even if it does not strike you as a dangerous threat, which we also do not claim of course, but it is still a potential threat.
This PUP has a semi-working uninstaller that you can activate via Control Panel. Once you run it, it will remove DailyProductivityTools Toolbar from Internet Explorer only. Thus, you need to reset the other two infected browsers, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, if you want to make sure that no leftovers remain after this annoying extension. If you do not feel safe in your virtual world and think that you may let further threats onto your system without your knowledge, we advise you to install a trustworthy malware removal program, such as SpyHunter. This security software can automatically detect and eliminate all known malware infections.
