You may find a new archiving application on your system called Best Ziper and you cannot even remember installing it. This is the typical symptom of having a potentially unwanted program (PUP) like this on board or worse. As a matter of fact, this PUP can slither onto your system in a bundle packed with several more dangerous malware threats. Now, this does not sound like a reliable program would do such a thing, right? This application also makes certain changes on your system that would block a number of websites from you. How about calling it a privacy breach for starters? As you can see, even if this PUP seems to do its job as an archiver, it can indirectly cause a lot of headaches for you. Therefore, we suggest that you remove Best Ziper from your computer; although, it will not be a one-phase thing.

The most likely way for you to let such an annoying program on board is to install it via free software bundles as we have already mentioned. Our research shows that this PUP can travel with Trojans, ELEX browser hijackers, adware applications, and other PUPs, including Traffic Exchange and YoutubeAdblocker. Having such a group of threats on your system could mean serious exposure to potentially harmful third-party web content, such as advertisements and scamming websites. This is why you need to make sure that there is no adware program, browser hijacker, or even PUP on your system because all of these infections may be able to present to you unreliable third-party ads and links.

You also need to be more careful with your clicks because third-party ads on questionable websites can be the source of such a bundled infection, too. Possibly, you have noticed how some types of websites are filled with annoying and flashing banners and pop-ups; these pages are mostly associated with file sharing, dating, gaming, and porn. But what you may not have realized is that these pages can also host invisible content (malicious code) as well as disguised ads pretending to be download buttons or system notifications. Ending up on an unfamiliar page is the most dangerous in this sense because you may drop a bundle just by simply clicking into an input field or on an empty area on the page.

A lot of users infect their system this way with a bunch of PUPs and malicious software installers in fact. But it does not need to be so. You can actually deselect certain components and browser setting changes included in the package if you read the license agreement or the installation wizard carefully. It is possible that you need to choose the custom option to see the real content of a bundle. In any case, since it is quite possible that there are several threats on your computer, we suggest that after you delete Best Ziper, you find a trustworthy online malware scanner and find all potentially unreliable programs. Of course, this will not clean your entire system per se, but at least you will see what you are up against. Finally, we also need to mention briefly the official page, where you may be able to download this PUP, healthydownload.com/from_backup/111222/Bestziper.exe. However, this page is blocked by any up-to-date security software; therefore, it is not safe to load this page if your PC is unprotected.

Our tests indicate that this questionable application is built on the 7zip engine. Therefore, it works just fine as a file compressor and decompressor; we cannot say a bad word about that part. However, we have found that this application makes changes to your hosts file, which you can find in the “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\” folder. This PUP adds a number of lines, i.e., URL addresses to the content of this file, which would be thus blocked from your browsers. This is rather suspicious behavior and should be enough for you to want to delete Best Ziper if you are a security-minded user. As a matter of fact, we cannot tell you much more about this PUP itself because it does not mean direct danger. Its worst characteristic is possibly the fact that it comes on board alongside more serious malware threats that can on the other hand cause just enough virtual security issues for you to worry about. This is the main reason why we think that you should remove Best Ziper from your PC.

As we have already hinted, you cannot get rid of this PUP too easily and in one single go. Unfortunately, its official uninstaller does not do a proper job; therefore, after running it, you still need to clear up the mess it leaves behind. And, let us not forget about the modification of your hosts file either. So if you are ready to act, please follow our guide below. But, if you are looking for something more effective, we suggest that you employ a reliable malware removal application that can automatically handle all known malware infections and more. Remember that having a security tool safeguarding your system does not mean that you do not need to keep all your programs and drivers updated for best results.
