GetFlightInfo Toolbar is a browser plugin that promises to enable users to “check flight status quickly and easily.” This piece of software claims that you will not only get information on arrivals, departures, and cancellations, but will also be enabled to access travel guides, restaurant reviews, and even get flight directions. The toolbar seems to be very useful at first sight, so it is not surprising at all that many users click the Install button placed on its official website. Actually, we do not recommend doing that. First of all, there is a possibility that GetFlightInfo Toolbar will put your system at risk. Secondly, GetFlightInfo Toolbar claims on its official website that it provides third-party information for users and cannot guarantee “the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the results.” Generally speaking, there is a possibility that this software will provide you with useless information. If you have already found this toolbar rather useless and annoying, you should get rid of it right away. Unfortunately, this will not be very easy to do.

You will not only see the presence of GetFlightInfo Toolbar at the top of your browsers after you install this browser plugin, but will also notice other changes. Researchers working at 411-spyware.com have managed to find out that GetFlightInfo Toolbar will create such files as http_GetFlightInfo.dl.myway.com_0.localstorage, http_GetFlightInfo.dl.myway.com_0.localstorage-journal, http_GetFlightInfo.dl.tb.ask.com_0.localstorage, and http_GetFlightInfo.dl.tb.ask.com_0.localstorage-journal. Unfortunately, it will leave them even though you get rid of the toolbar. On top of that, it will create registry keys:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Tracing\GetFlightInfo_RASMANCS
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Tracing\GetFlightInfo_RASAPI32
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\AppDataLow\Software\GetFlightInfo_fk

These are not all the registry keys it creates. We also want to emphasize that it creates CLSID’s, e.g. {4a53005e-a9d6-4fc2-9645-410e094db16c}, {978FF5C6-39B6-4347-BBF8-43096493EF39}, and {BF982763-8630-4E2C-AE55-7CD79A389673}. As can be seen, GetFlightInfo Toolbar applies many changes, but it will definitely not limit itself to that.

Researchers have also noticed that your search engine will be changed after the installation of GetFlightInfo Toolbar. You will not only see a new toolbar, but will also notice that your default search engine is different (ask.com will replace it), so GetFlightInfo Toolbar is often considered to be a Toolbar-Hijacker by many researchers. Ask.com itself is not a bad search engine. In fact, it is considered to be legitimate; however, we do not recommend trusting it fully when it comes together with GetFlightInfo Toolbar. Our specialists have managed to find out that ask.com might provide users with sponsored content if it has been set the moment GetFlightInfo Toolbar has been installed on the system. Various sponsored links and advertisements that are provided for you might redirect you to unreliable websites. GetFlightInfo Toolbar is definitely not responsible for their content, which means that you might encounter malware.

As you have understood, it is rather risky to keep GetFlightInfo Toolbar. Actually, GetFlightInfo Toolbar should be erased not only because it can provide users with sponsored content, but also because it can violate their privacy. We have found out after reading its Privacy Policy that GetFlightInfo Toolbar records information users provide for them, e.g. email, username, and password, it captures information automatically, e.g. info about your device, search history, pages viewed, etc., and it allows third-parties to gather data as well. GetFlightInfo Toolbar mainly itself uses cookies to get information about users; however, it might use other technologies too, for example, web beacons. If you want to save your privacy, you must delete GetFlightInfo Toolbar right now.

There are hundreds of other Mindspark Interactive Network, Inc. products that look and act exactly like GetFlightInfo Toolbar. Even though each of them has its official website, they are usually spread through software bundles. In other words, they come together with additional software. Users usually download such bundles from third-party web pages mainly. If you do not want this to happen ever again, surf the web and download programs from reliable web pages only. On top of that, install a security tool on the system and keep it enabled all the time.

It is not so easy to get rid of GetFlightInfo Toolbar because the browser plugin will disappear from Internet Explorer only if you erase it via Control Panel. Specialists say that GetFlightInfo Toolbar will be erased from other browsers, i.e. Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome only if you delete extensions from them. Unfortunately, it will not be enough to do that because this undesirable software will leave a bunch of leftovers. They have to be erased too because this software might still be able to perform activities behind your back. As it is an extremely challenging task, we highly recommend that you scan your system with an automatic scanner, such as SpyHunter. It will make your system 100% clean within a few minutes.
