Our security team says that CyberSplitter Ransomware is the same as Cyber Splitter Vbs Ransomware. It would not be surprising because it is very often that malicious programs have several names. Now, if these are absolutely the same, then we can apply the same behavioral patterns to CyberSplitter Ransomware, as well. What’s more, we can also remove this infection following the instructions that were used for the previously released ransomware program. However, just because we have stepped on the same rake twice, it does not mean we should pay less attention to this infection. On the contrary, we have to eradicate it without any further ado.

You must have installed this infection accidentally when you opened a spam email attachment. This attachment probably looked like a regular document, most probably an online shop invoice or some notification from your financial institution. Although lately the email algorithms have been developed well enough to sort such messages into the Junk folder, sometimes they still manage to find its way into your main inbox, your social or promotional sections. Either way, when you find such a message in your inbox, you should delete it immediately, instead of downloading and opening the attachment. If you still think that this attachment might be something important, you can always scan that file with a security tool of your choice.

Now, that CyberSplitter Ransomware has already entered your system, you should know better than to panic. Normally a ransomware program will encrypt a list of files to have some leverage in pushing the user to transfer a ransom fee. However, this program here cannot encrypt the files because it is obviously underdeveloped. It does say that your files have been encrypted in the notification you can see on your desktop, but the message cannot be taken seriously. It asks you to pay 1BTC for the decryption tool, but why would you part with around $780USD for a tool you do not need?

Further research into this infection has shown that CyberSplitter Ransomware shares its code with the so-called Cerber Ransomware, so it is possible that the program was based on this notorious infection. This actually gives us a clue how it is possible to remove it. What’s more, there are other points of this infection that suggest it should not be hard to get rid of it. For instance, some ransomware applications lock users out of their desktops or deny access to system utilities, trying to remain on the infected computer as long as possible. On the other hand, CyberSplitter Ransomware does nothing of the kind. It does not lock your Task Manager or Registry Editor, so you can go around your normal daily activities as if nothing has happened.

Nevertheless, you still need to delete CyberSplitter Ransomware from your system. Find the file that initiated the infection and delete it. It will be in the folder where you save most of your downloaded files. Normally, that is the Downloads folder by default, although some users prefer setting other folders for that. When you are done with that, scan your PC with the SpyHunter free scanner to see whether you have more unwanted applications on-board. If so, remove them automatically.

How to Remove CyberSplitter Ransomware
