The creators of Ransoc Screenlocker not only lock their victim’s screens but also try to extort money from them. As our specialists identify, the application is a Trojan infection that might infect the computer by exploiting its vulnerabilities. Once the malware settles in, you can forget your privacy as it can access any data on the computer, including your social media profile, chat messages, and so on. The malicious application reviews all of your data just to find any proof of your criminal activities. If it succeeds in doing so, the Trojan should show you a warning message asking to pay a fine for your crimes. It might look quite convincing, but we can assure you that the message is not from legal authorities. Thus, we encourage you to use the instructions below and eliminate the threat.

The fact that Ransoc Screenlocker managed to infect the computer shows your system's vulnerability to threats. What allows us to think so is the way this malicious program could be spread. According to our specialists, the malware might be distributed while using programs known as exploit kits. These applications could attack the system while the user is surfing the Internet, e.g. loading suspicious or harmful web pages. If the exploit kit finds vulnerabilities on the system, it can use them to infect the user with malicious software such as Ransoc Screenlocker. Consequently, we recommend updating outdated programs, especially your antimalware tool, or if you do not have one yet, it would be a good idea to acquire a trustworthy one.

As soon as the system gets infected, Ransoc Screenlocker could investigate files on the computer, check your social media account, look through chat conversations, etc. While doing so, the malware should look for proof of your criminal activities, e.g. illegally downloaded movies via torrent applications. Then, the threat should lock the screen and generate a custom warning message based on data showing the user’s criminal activities, although if you do not have such files, the warning should not appear.

The penalty message should tell you how much is the fine you have to pay. Also, it might show the given time limit, detected proof of criminal activities or threaten you to expose the incriminating data. Moreover, the warning says that this is the only way to settle this without going to court and if you “are not caught again within 180 days” the money you paid could be returned. As you see, the malware’s creators use various ways to scare the user and convince him to transfer the money. Luckily, you can erase the Trojan and unlock the computer without paying any money.

To eliminate Ransoc Screenlocker users should reboot their computer in Safe Mode to get rid of the warning message and delete the infection’s data. For more precise instructions, you should have a look at the step by step removal instructions located a little below this text. However, if you do not feel experienced enough to deal with this Trojan infection alone, you could install a reliable antimalware tool after restarting the system in Safe Mode with Networking. The tool could find and remove the malicious application’s files from the system. Plus, it could locate other possible threats as well, so it might be a good opportunity to clean the system.
