It is quite strange that Windows users install SOSO DESK willingly, considering that this program does not actually offer beneficial services. This program does not provide much information about itself, and the only listed features include device management and device or web search. Only when you install this program, you find that it finds files on your PC, but you can easily use the Search utility on your Windows operating system to find these files, and you do not need an additional tool for that. It is strange that users are lured in with such a useless service, but it appears that this service is hiding something bigger, which is a browser hijacker. Obviously, we do not recommend letting it in or interacting with it at all. All in all, if you are researching the removal of SOSO DESK, the hijacker must have hijacked your Google Chrome browser already because the PUP (potentially unwanted program) comes bundled with it.

The official source of SOSO DESK is sosodesktop.com, but our research team warns that this PUP could also be spread by malicious installers. The files of this program are signed by BYSENDA TECHNOLOGY LIMITED, and the creator is also responsible for DealWifi, Uncheckit, Picexa, and other potentially unwanted programs. Unfortunately, our analysis of these PUPs has shown that they were distributed along with browser hijackers from the ELEX family, including Nuesearch.com or Yessearches.com, as well as other unreliable software. If you trust unfamiliar installers, you are not only likely to encounter additional threats but it is also possible that the suspicious Search.sosodesktop.com hijacker will be installed without your permission. If you install the PUP from its official website, you will be forced into installing this search tool because you will not have the permission to install SOSO DESK unless you check two boxes indicating that you agree to replace homepage, search provider, and new tab tools on your Google Chrome browser. You can learn more about Search.sosodesktop.com here.

Besides offering useless services and downloading additional software, SOSO DESK is also known for collecting users’ data. Using tracking cookies, this potentially unwanted program will record your interaction with software and the advertisements introduced to you via the browser hijacker. If you have reviewed the Privacy Policy available at sosodesktop.com/privacy.php, you know that SOSO DESK can record personally-identifiable information. Although it is stated that personal information is not shared with unauthorized parties, we are not provided with the list of “authorized” parties, and we cannot know whether or not they are trustworthy. Bysenda Tehcnology Inc. lists an email address (contact@bysenda.com) via which you supposedly can request the removal of your personal information. Whether or not the company would remove your personal information upon request is not known. Hopefully, they would. We also recommend that once you remove the PUP and the hijacker, you erase the cookies associated with this software as well. Use the Ctrl+Shift+Delete shortcut on your browser to open a menu that will help you erase cookies.

Most users know how to uninstall software, which is why it is not surprising that most try to delete SOSO DESK by uninstalling it as shown below. Unfortunately, the removal of this PUP is not as straightforward because it leaves leftovers. Once you uninstall this program, you have a few more components to eliminate, and they are attached to our guide as well. We also recommend inspecting your computer with a malware scanner after you complete the guide below because you do not want to leave any leftovers behind. A scanner is also irreplaceable when identifying other threats that might have been bundled along with the PUP. Make sure you scan your PC for these additional threats to make sure that it is clean and safe to use. Of course, you should install anti-malware software to make sure that more dangerous threats cannot slither in the future. You can also use this software for automatic malware removal.
