If you travel a lot, you might find the deals promised by AhoyTraveler attractive. This program is meant to provide you with the most exclusive offers, but our research has shown that it displays more random ads than travel deals, and these deals might not even be real. Due to this reason, we have classified this supposedly beneficial tool as an advertising-supported program, or adware. Our research has also revealed that this adware is similar to SecretCreditCard, HealthySure, MusicMain, and other previously reported programs. Notably, all of them are represented via different pages, and we do not reject the possibility that they were created by different parties. Luckily, it is unlikely that they will travel packaged together. The bad news is that you are likely to encounter other suspicious programs, and this is not the only reason why you must delete AhoyTraveler.

AhoyTraveler.com is the website representing this ad-supported program, but it is not the only source of distribution. Many users report finding this undesirable app attached to other programs, and, depending on the installers, you might face malware. Although you might be unaware of this, our malware analysts warn that software bundling is one of the most popular backdoors used for the distribution of malware. If you suspect the existence of malicious infections, scan your PC immediately to find them. Even if you doubt the existence of malicious threats, scan your PC anyway, because some threats are able to slither in silently without user’s notice. If other infections do not exist, you can focus on AhoyTraveler. This adware is represented via a window that can be launched with the help of a shortcut on the Desktop (possibly the Start Menu as well). This window loads the content of websites that represent traveling deals. If you interact with them, do so with caution.

As soon as you install AhoyTraveler, you will be introduced to third-party ads loaded via Internet Explorer. Our researchers have found IE showing ads served via download.safepcrepair.com. Whether you are introduced to surveys, price giveaways, or legitimate-looking deals, we do not recommend interacting with them. We also do not recommend downloading the Adobe Flash Player introduced to you via bytedownloadlaboratory.com or toolbars created by Mindspark Interactive Network (e.g., FileShareFanatic Toolbar or PackageTracking Toolbar). As you might know already, these toolbars come bundled with a search tool that can display sponsored links, which is why we consider them unreliable as well. Note that if you have installed Search Know or some other ad-supported program when downloading AhoyTraveler (adware can be introduced to you via the official installer), you might be shown even more ads. These ads could promote other threats as well.

So here is the rundown of why you should remove AhoyTraveler from your operating system. First of all, this program does not provide original content or original deals. It simply copies the content of third-party sites, and that does not make it useful. Second, it introduces users to potentially unwanted or dangerous programs, which means that its installer can open a security backdoor. Finally, it shows the ads of unfamiliar parties. These ads include suspicious installers that, for all you know, might hide malware, and online forms (surveys, questionnaires, registration for prizes, etc.) are likely to collect data. Needless to say, you have to be mindful about how you share information about yourself and what kind of software you install, and we hope that, in the future, you will be more careful. Right now, eliminate existing threats.

You can delete AhoyTraveler in several different ways. You can implement an automated remover to erase this adware along with other active threats. We recommend this method to everyone, but especially to those who are inexperienced and those whose operating systems are infected with multiple threats. The good news is that anyone can eliminate this adware manually. You can easily uninstall this adware via Control Panel, or you can eliminate its folders hidden on your computer (see instructions below). If you choose the latter option, scan your computer afterward to make sure that you have eliminated all components successfully. If you have trouble erasing this program – or any other threats – you can ask us questions via the comments box below.
