If you are a user of Zolta Registry Cleaner, then we have some bad news for you. Like many online security websites, we have classified it as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) because it does a pretty lousy job of cleaning your operating system’s registry. Moreover, it is configured to show you a fictitious Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) error to compel you to dial a premium toll number to get in contact with “technical support.” Therefore, we recommend that you remove this program from your PC as soon as the opportunity arises. Nevertheless, if you want to find out more about it, then we invite you to read this whole article and come to your own conclusion.

There are many registry cleaners similar to this one (e.g. Registry Helper, Cleaner Pro, PC Clean Plus,) but Zolta Registry Cleaner is unique because it uses a very deceitful strategy to make money for its developers. As mentioned, it will render a fictitious BSoD error to trick you into calling a premium toll number. Nevertheless, you do not have to restart your computer after you get this error. All you have to do is simultaneously press Alt+F keys to terminate the window. This error message is actually a process that runs in the background. Its files are located in %WINDIR% and they include bs1.exe, HardwareInformation.exe, Mint.exe, MyTrayApp.exe, sc.bat, Wimboldon.exe, winupd.exe. It is rather ironic that a program that is supposed to prevent errors is configured to create them. This is not what a legitimate application does, and you should not tolerate such deceptive actions. However, there is another major issue we want to cover in this article.

Zolta Registry Cleaner would not be called a registry cleaner if it did not have a registry cleaning function. Well, it has this function, but it has serious problems. We ran this program on our test computer and found that it is capable of locating empty and registry keys that ought to be removed, but it also includes registry keys that have no problems at all. In addition, to that, we have found that this application is incapable of deleting all of the problematic keys. Therefore, even its primary function is nothing more than a gimmick.

We were surprised to find that this application can inject commercial advertisements into your web browser. As stated in Zolta Registry Cleaner’s Terms and Conditions, “Accepting to use “Zolta Pro,” you formally accept the appearing of advertisements available as pop-ups/pop-downs during internet browsing.” So this alleged registry cleaner is bound to subject you to commercial content. However, there is no way of knowing whether that content is legitimate and chances are that this may not always be the case. It is plain to see that this program has created for the single purpose of making money for its developers and it offers nothing useful to the end-user.

We tried to identify the developer responsible for the release of this program, but to no avail. Like many developers of potentially unwanted programs, Zolta Registry Cleaner’s developers chose to stay in the shadows. Hence, they have not digitally signed the program, and there is no company name anywhere on its website at Zoltapro.com. Also, this website is supposed to feature Zolta Registry Cleaner’s standalone installer, but the download button does not work. However, this does not mean that you cannot get it. We believe that it may be distributed via software bundles featured on shady software distributing websites, but we have yet to find an example of this. Nevertheless, people still get this application and this has to stop because it is nothing short of useless.

In conclusion, Zolta Registry Cleaner is a fake registry cleaner that is incapable of fully cleaning your operating system’s registry. It is configured to display a fake BSoD error which promotes a fake technical support number that may charge a lot of money for the call. Furthermore, this application may configure your web browser to display commercial advertisements in the form of pop-ups, search-related ads and so on.
