SpyLookout Removal Guide

Not so long ago we reviewed an adware application called WebWatch that we urged people to remove. However, today we are going to take a look at an application that claims to do exactly the same. SpyLookout promises to offer an application that monitors and presents information about websites that monitor your browsing activity using browser cookies. Unfortunately, this application cannot do this, since it is a cleverly advertised adware program that will display ads and keep tabs on your browsing activities. It is very dishonest of the developers to promote it as sort of spyware detector, and spy on you at the same time. This application has no place on your PC so we are going to include a removal guide at the end.

SpyLookout installs browser extensions on Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome, but the extensions do not do anything as they are just for show. This application utilizes a randomly named executable file to generate and display the ads on the browsers. It can use up a reasonable amount of your computer’s resources so it is undesirable for this fact alone. However, third-party advertisements are our biggest concern since they are of questionable reliability. They might promote shady retail stores, online gaming websites, and potentially unwanted applications. It does not seem very dangerous, but when you know that its content is misleading, there is no reason to keep an application. SpyLookout is set to show ads as banners, in-texts, pop-ups, and transitional ads, among other types of advertising. This application is not very aggressive and does not show a lot of advertisements, but it does not mean that you should tolerate its presence.

SpyLookout’s Privacy Policy states that this program automatically collects various kinds of information that includes without limitation IP addresses, language information, location information, and the contents of a browser’s URL history. This information is then used to assist this program’s developers in advertising their products. Nevertheless, the developers do not keep this information to themselves as they gladly share it with their affiliated third-party advertisers who pay them for advertising services. The collected information can also be shared with government institutions in case of litigation, and so on. Since this information is anonymous the developer can legally collect and share it. However, we do not approve this activity and many security analysts do not approve this as well, that is why many recommend deleting SpyLookout.

If you have this application on your PC, then there is a good chance that you got it by installing software bundles from shady freeware websites. It is also worth mentioning that SpyLookout can be downloaded from its dedicated website at Spylookoutapp.com. No matter how you got this application, it will never work, because it was not designed to work so we suggest that you get rid of this application using our removal guide.

Uninstall SpyLookout from your computer

Windows 10, 8.1, and 8

1. Move the mouse to the lower left of the screen.
2. Right-click on the Start menu.
3. Go to Programs and Features.
4. Locate SpyLookout and right-click on it.
5. Click the Uninstall button.

Windows 7 and Vista

1. Click the Start button and go to Control Panel.
2. Select Uninstall a program.
3. Locate SpyLookout and click the Uninstall button.

Windows XP

1. Click Start and go to Control Panel.
2. Go to Add or Remove programs.
3. Find SpyLookout and click Remove.
