It does not matter if you have downloaded the extension from its official website, the Chrome Web Store, or if it has somehow managed to sneak onto the computer without permission because you will encounter the search engine it promotes either way. Researchers at have found out that this search engine will be set in the place of the default search engine and will also be opened every time you open the New Tab page. Many users find it very irritating that they cannot use the search engine they prefer and have to deal with If you are one of those users, you can remove the extension from your browser, and the annoying search engine will disappear too. In fact, you should get rid of it not only because you find it irritating. According to experts specializing in the field of cybersecurity, such search engines promoted by questionable search tools always look harmless but, in reality, they often become users’ worst nightmares because they are known to be able to expose users to all kinds of threats. As for the search engine spread by the extension, it might redirect to unreliable third-party websites containing malware. Also, researchers say that there is a small possibility that the information about you will be collected and sold to third parties one day if you keep it installed and let it act the way it wants.

The second you install the extension, or it sneaks onto the computer without permission, a new folder jpbiidiolcnecappefaakldhgleenldp (the same as the ID in the Chrome Web Store) will be created in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions. Also, as it has already been mentioned above, the settings of your Google Chrome browser will be changed. You should not use the as your default search engine even though it does not look bad and even contains easy access buttons leading to official websites of AMC, Netflix, and other popular places. It is a really bad decision to keep it in the place of the default search engine because recent research has shown that it will blend ads with the legitimate search results. These ads might redirect to third-party websites run by cyber criminals or simply containing malware. Theoretically, you might even be offered to buy a nonexistent application there. Also, you will not find the necessary information on the web quickly because many of the search results shown for you will not be associated with the entered search query.

Users who allow the extension to enter their computers unknowingly also do not know that it is going to “manage apps, extensions, and themes” as well as “read and change all your data on the websites you visit.” These activities might not seem to be bad; however, if we were you, we would not allow suspicious extensions to act like that because the collected data might be later on sold to particular companies or even end up in the hands of bad people. We do not say that this happens always; however, it does not change the fact that you should get rid of the extension to protect your PC and your privacy.

There are three ways the extension enters computers. First, users click on the Free Download! Button and download it from; second, users install it from the Chrome Web Store (; third, it enters the computer illegally, for example, it has been found that it tends to travel with free applications and enter systems together with them rather secretly. These ways of distribution are not new. According to specialists at, a bunch of other threats are distributed in software bundles, so you should always keep an eye out.

Unfortunately, MyTVtab is not a very useful piece of software even though it says that it will enable users to watch TV on their computers. Also, it spreads a questionable search engine. It is, of course, not an extremely dangerous threat, so it will be quite easy to get rid of it. All you need to do is to open the Add-ons Manager, find this extension, and remove it. Alternatively, you can use our manual removal instructions (see below).
