SearchWizard is a potentially unwanted program that works on Google Chrome browsers. Our specialists say that the application could change browser preferences as well as view your browsing history. If such functionality annoys you, there are a couple of ways to delete SearchWizard from your browser. Our removal instructions located below this article show how to erase the potentially unwanted program manually. If the task looks challenging or you do not want to delete the application manually, you could install a reliable security tool that could do it for you. In case you want to learn more about the discussed extension before you decide if it stays on your browser or not, we invite you to read our full report. Should you have any questions about the tool, do not hesitate to leave us a message below.

SearchWizard has an official website called portal.search-wizard.com and, at the moment of writing, it is still available on the Chrome Web Store page. However, we do not think the mentioned websites are the only places where users could come across this potentially unwanted program. As you see, a lot of similarly classified applications are spread through pop-ups, ads, and bundled software installers. It means that it could be encountered by users who visit file-sharing websites and doubtful sites alike. Thus, to avoid coming across potentially unwanted programs, we advise you to stay away from unreliable websites and never to click on pop-ups or ads that promote unknown freeware or lead to untrustworthy sites.

As said earlier, SearchWizard might modify browser preferences if it gets installed. Our researchers say that the application could change a user’s default search engine with a search website of its own. It should be called feed.search-wizard.com. Also, we found out that it could redirect users to a modified version of search.yahoo.com. Consequently, the results displayed through such Yahoo version could be modified, for example, they could be injected with ads from various third parties. Moreover, our specialists say that if SearchWizard shows ads, they could be targeted because the application might ask permission to view your browsing history. If it is allowed to do so, the extension could see, for example, your visited websites or clicked ads, and use such browsing data to learn about your interests to create tailored ads. It is quite possible that the potentially unwanted program could do so given that its Privacy Policy says that it might share gathered data with third parties and use it to “Recommend content based on your preferences.”

If you do not like that this extension encourages you to search through a modified Yahoo search engine and that it could show you targeted ads or help third parties to do so, you could erase SearchWizard from your browser. The instructions located below this paragraph can help you access the Google Chrome’s extensions menu and remove the unwanted application from there. If you prefer using automatic tools, you could get a reliable antimalware application. It should detect the potentially unwanted program while performing a full system scan. Afterwards, you should be able to eliminate SearchWizard and other identified items at the same time.
