Do not assume that SearchGamez will help you find games just because the word “game” is included in its name. Do not assume that this tool will provide you with “optimized search results” just because that is the promise that is presented in the description that is placed next to the installer on the Chrome Web Store (chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/searchgamez/cpieliioldegdicikophgdjeihccjgfg). Unfortunately, we often see descriptions and official promotional information that are highly curated and even misleading, which is why we do not recommend relying on that alone. Instead, you want to dig deeper and see what other users and experts are saying. The experts in our research team warn that deleting SearchGamez is best. Although this extension can seem to be beneficial, even after you install it and it takes over the browser, you want to remove it to keep your virtual security in check.

There is a good chance that you downloaded SearchGamez from the Chrome Web Store, but we cannot know how you found that installer. It is unlikely that you found it yourself while browsing the platform. Instead, it is likely that you were redirected to it via an unreliable adware server or that you found it attached to more desirable programs or extensions. While bundled downloaders can be harmless, in many cases, they are used to promote unreliable pieces of software, which is why you need to be cautious about bundles. It is best if you stay away from them altogether. That is exactly how SearchConverterHD, VideozSearchs, PDFConvertersSearch, SearchSeries, UpdateSearch, and many other PUPs (potentially unwanted programs) are likely to spread as well. It is likely that SearchGamez was created by the same people who created these PUPs because they all have the same interface. Once the extension is installed, portal.search-gamez.com opens as the New Tab page, and the interface of this search engine offers a search box and free widgets (PDF converter, currency converter, cryptocurrency converter, and calculator). Even if you find them useful, we still recommend deleting the PUP.

Besides changing the New Tab page on the Google Chrome browser, this PUP also changes the default search provider. Feed.search-gamez.com takes over your normal provider, and every time you conduct a search via the browser’s address bar, you are redirected to search.yahoo.com. The same happens if you use the search box found on the New Tab page. One might think that this search engine is completely trustworthy, but SearchGamez changes the results you see. It injects third-party ads, and we cannot say how safe or dangerous it is for you to interact with them. It is possible that that is not safe at all. Should you just take the risk? We do not think that you should because SearchGamez does not actually work in a beneficial manner. Even though it offers free widgets, it cannot offer the best search services, and so we advise removing it. Note that a calculator might already exist on your system, and you can find currency converters online. The PUP simply has no legitimate purpose.

You can install undesirable extensions directly from your browser, and you can use the same method for the removal of SearchGamez as well. If you have no experience with unwanted extensions, use the guide below. Once you do that, clear browsing data to get rid of data-tracking web cookies as well as to clear cache and browsing history. Your default search provider and New Tab page should go back to normal after that. If you know that other threats exist, you might need to delete them first. That depends on the threat level of a particular infection. PUPs usually do not have a high threat level, and so they can be erased last. Of course, you can choose to have all infections removed at once, which you can do using a legitimate anti-malware program. If you choose this option, please make sure that the program you install is authentic and efficient. Note that not all anti-malware tools are able to identify and delete PUPs.
