It is more than obvious that Reco Ransomware is a malicious computer infection. It is a ransomware infection, and so it can encrypt your personal files in a blink of an eye. Although the ransomware endemic has been prevalent for several years now, it doesn’t look like we have an ultimate remedy for it, yet. Thus, things like Reco Ransomware will continue to emerge from time to time with the intention to make easy money out of unsuspecting victims. You should never give this infection what it wants. Simply remove Reco Ransomware from your computer if you have been infected, and turn a new page.

So, Reco Ransomware is yet another program from the STOP Ransomware family. It is directly related to Caleb Ransomware, Meds Ransomware, Nesa Ransomware, and many other programs that come from the same group. In fact, they are so similar, that almost all of them share the same ransom note. Normally, ransom note contents, the interface, and the appendix that is added to all the encrypted files differ from infection to infection. But with the STOP Ransomware group, if we get infected with one of those programs, we all see the following ransom note:

Of course, it is more than obvious that paying the ransom would not solve your problems. So, you should never consider doing that. Not to mention that the malicious server might not have the best connection out there and there is a chance that you wouldn’t be able to contact these criminals in the first place.

However, what are you supposed to do with all the encrypted files then? Well, your best option is addressing a local professional. There is a chance to decrypt your files, if they were encrypted using an offline key. Programs from the STOP Ransomware family have a public decryption tool. However, this decryption tool works only if the files were encrypted with the offline key, so it is hard to say if it will work with your files because each infection is individual.

That having been said, we should also look at the way ransomware spreads around, so that you would not allow a similar infection to enter your PC. Simply ignore the spam emails you receive every single day. If they come with attached files, all the more so. If you think that the file you received MIGHT be important, you can scan it with a security tool of your choice. This way, you would definitely ensure that your system remains clean.

It is also important to create a file backup because so far, that is the best way to fight a ransomware infection. While most of the time it is not possible to restore your files immediately, you don’t need to worry about that if you have copies of your files saved someplace else.

Hence, if that is the case for you, just remove Reco Ransomware from your computer following the manual removal instructions below. If the manual removal is too complicated for you, get yourself a reliable antispyware tool. Afterwards, delete the encrypted files and transfer the healthy copies back int your hard drive. If you do not have a file backup, look for other file recovery options.
