Phrase Professor is advertised as a utility that is supposed to improve your web searching abilities, and in a way it actually does. As useful as this application may be, it is still an adware application that will show you advertisements of unknown origin. For this reason we are of the opinion that you should remove this application as soon as possible. Phrase Professor has functions can potentially improve your browsing experience, but because it displays obnoxious third-party ads you should not trust it. Of course, we recommend reading the full article so you could come to your own conclusions.
Phrase Professor has been digitally signed by Phrase Professor which is obviously a fictitious name, and we know this, because the program has a lot of clones that look and work exactly like this application. InfoAtoms, WordShark, QuickSurf, and LinkWiz are all registered to the same address in La Jolla, California, USA. Clearly, something is not right here. All of the programs have promotional websites, and newer versions can even be downloaded from them. However, Phrase Professor cannot be downloaded from its website at Phraseprofessor.com, because it is an older version. So it must be distributed via shareware websites bundled with legitimate applications that people gladly download for free. However, free software oftentimes includes bad programs, such as adware, bad toolbars, and even browser hijackers.
Even though Phrase Professor is an undesirable application, it is very easy to use. If want to activate it you have to highlight a text segment and click the icon that will appear on the top right of the highlighted text. After you click that icon a window will appear. The window consists of three tabs. The first tab will present information about the text segment or phrase that you have highlighted. The second one features a Microsoft-based translator, which actually works rather well and features a lot of languages. The last tab is a Thesaurus that will provide certain information about a highlighted term, but not a phrase. These functions are quite useful and might benefit some of you.
However, this application has one big drawback for which you should not use this program. The Terms of Use found on this programs website state that you will “receive targeted advertisements in the form of additional shopping comparison, coupon, in-text transitional, and in-text link advertisements.” The ads are provided by some shady third parties, so they are unreliable. The Terms of use clearly states that the company will not be liable for any damages arising from using this program.
So what can I learn from this article? you may ask. Well, now you know that Phrase Professor has major drawbacks that you should not ignore. The application might prove useful, but since the ads come from third-parties there is just no way of knowing if they are legitimate. And above all, the ads are just plain irritating. So if you are ready to remove Phrase Professor please consult the instructions located at the end. We also recommend scanning your computer for malicious applications using our features antimalware scanner called SpyHunter.
