Mysearch-engine.net is a suspicious search engine that may also use redirections to potentially unreliable websites. Its presence in your browsers may be due to a browser hijacker that has infiltrated your computer, most likely in a freeware bundle. This hijacker is rather bad news because it may expose you to unsafe third-party web content. Since it can affect all major browsers, including Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome as well, there is a good chance that you cannot escape this kind of exposure. We believe that it is essential to understand the risks involved in order for you to be able to protect your PC efficiently from future malware attacks. Please read our full article for more details about this infection. At the end, we will also share our solution on how you can remove Mysearch-engine.net from your computer.

We have not managed to find an official website that promotes this hijacker as a standalone installer. Instead, reports show that this browser hijacker uses free software bundling to spread over the web. Bundling has a rather questionable ring to it nowadays. The reason is that schemers tend to use this distribution method to infect unsuspecting computer users. In order to do so, they pack malicious software installers together with legitimate freeware in the same bundle. Since the main goal here is to get the user to install the whole package preferably, these installers can be quite misleading. One main thing they have in common is that the whole content of the bundle will be installed by default, unless you opt out. This is the step that most users tend to skip or overlook. And this is how they actually infect their machines most of the times.

Such malicious bundles can be downloaded if you are not careful enough and end up on suspicious file-sharing websites. Whenever you are looking for new software to install, you need to be alert when clicking on the search results because some of them may take you to fake websites or unreliable torrent and freeware sites. Landing on such pages is not without consequences. These pages may open new tab pages in your browser and load unsafe websites. It can also happen that no matter where you click on the page, even on misleading download buttons, you may end up with a bunch of malware threats on your computer. That is why we urge you to stay away from unfamiliar websites and not to click on any third-party advertisement either. If you stick with reputable websites to download software, you can avoid a lot of malware infections. However, if you are not sure how this browser hijacker has sneaked onto your computer, we advise you to delete Mysearch-engine.net and run a full-system malware scan in order to identify all other potential threats, too.

There are several reasons why you should not keep this browser hijacker on board and why you should not even think about using it. First, even if the search engine page comes up, there is a good chance that sending your query may result in a manipulated results page shown to you that contains affiliated third-party ads and links. This means that you may be introduced to unreliable content. Clicking on such links may take you to malicious websites where you may infect your computer with more malware programs or you may become a victim of on online scam, too. But it is also possible that this hijacker will simply redirect you to a few other sites that use redirections as well. So in the end, you will end up on an unsafe website full of potentially harmful third-party ads. We have found, for example, that these redirections may take the following route: first, you get redirected to “tzpzc.com/trf?,” then to 2ze1.zeroredirect1.com/zcvisitor/2a8382a0-c8ac-11e5-bbb9-06d3db30a525,” from here to “ze1.zeroredirect2.com/zcredirect?visitid=2a8382a0-c8ac-11e5-bbb9-06d3db30a525&type=js&browserWidth=1280&browserHeight=899&iframeDetected=false,” and finally, you arrive at this page: “123tvonline.com/searchzp.html?target=foxtrot-bag-Gjv8jp5W&keyword=zp_news+google%20maps,mysearch-engine,mysearch-engine.net&src=ZP_Ronm” or “uzdirbtipinigus.com.” The latter two sites may depend on locality or other factors, but these seem to be potentially unreliable and also promote third-party websites. Engaging with any content on these pages may have unfortunate consequences for you and your operating system as well. Therefore, we suggest that you remove Mysearch-engine.net as soon as possible.

Although this browser hijacker does not seem to have a working uninstaller, it is still not too complicated to terminate this source of virtual threats. All you need to do is restore the home page settings in your browsers since this is the setting this hijacker actually targets and changes to be there every time you launch your web browser applications.
