PasswordView is quite an old ad-supported program that we consider as malicious and worthy of removal. Its developers portray it as a program that enables you to see your own passwords so you do not have to enter them a second time ever again. However, this is just an outright lie. Apart from showing you commercial advertisements and occasionally gathering information about you, PasswordView does not have any other functions. Unfortunately, this program is apt to display advertisements of unknown origin. They might promote unreliable software, such as potentially unwanted programs, adware, and so on. And the ads are just plain annoying. If you want to know more about this adware program, please continue reading.

Adware exists solely because legitimate websites refuse to cooperate with shady advertisers who often engage in promoting unreliable content. Adware enables advertisers to modify the website and inject it with advertisements. Some ads blend in while others stick out like a sore thumb. These days, most advertisements blend in quite well. However, some of them are purposefully labeled so that the users know which program presented them with advertisements. PasswordView does not seem to label its ads. It is an old program so it is not so common and most advertisers have already swapped it for another program. But, regardless, it can still be found promoting links to third parties websites, advertisements, products, offers, applications and more with the help of ads, pops, coupons, price comparison, in-line text and content recommendations. But as mentioned, you simply cannot take its promotions at face value, because you might end up downloading undesirable software.

Collecting information for advertising and marketing purposes is one other reason to remove PasswordView. The program does not have the ability to collect or steal personal information, but it can get hold of you IP address, browser type, software installation date, operating system type (type, version, CPU type), default search provider, status of the software installation, browsing history, antivirus type, and a few other things. This information can be sent back to the developers for analysis. It might also be shared with third parties as well. So if you value your personal security, you ought to get rid of this program as soon as the opportunity arises.

Now, let us discuss where this adware comes from. PasswordView was released by a company called Virtue Interactive Ltd, which is also responsible for programs, such as Top-That, Zorable, and Best Online Deals. We looked into the company and found that it is registered in the United Kingdom. However, This program’s Terms of Service found on its website at Passwordview.co says that the agreement “will be solely governed by the Laws of the State of Israel, and any dispute arising from it will be brought only to the competent courts of the Tel-Aviv district.” Everything about this program is very misleading and the confusion regarding its country of origin must be intentional.

In conclusion, it is obvious that this program is unreliable. It comes from a known adware developer that lies about what their products actually do. Apart from displaying commercial advertisements this program will not perform any other function. Or rather it will, but it will not benefit you, information collecting is done solely for the benefit of the developers. So, feel free to remove PasswordView as soon as you can.
