Contraviro is scareware disguised as antispyware software. Contraviro is a clone of rogue antispyware Unvirex, and like Unvirex, Contraviro uses scare tactics to try to scam you. Contraviro mimics scanning your system for security risks, then details tons of supposed threats. The catch? These “threats” are mostly legit programs, and if you were to delete them, you’d cripple your Windows system. What’s the point? Contraviro just wants to trick you into wasting money on the “full” version of Contraviro to remove these fake threats. Contraviro popups may also bombard you with spoof system alerts.
Take extra care when uninstalling Contraviro. Contraviro plants a networking DLL, Layered Service Provider (LSP), in your PC. LSPs can be used to track your system’s network traffic and act on that information, and if you delete an LSP you may also delete your computer’s network connection. Use this Contraviro removal guide carefully, pretty please, and leave a comment if you have any questions about how to best get rid of Contraviro.
