Online-Safe-Way.com Threat Level:
Online-Safe-Way.com is home to Antivirus 2008, another fake anti-spyware application. Online-Safe-Way.com runs a simulated system scan online, then offers a free scan with Antivirus 2008. What a deal. Only if you download the trial, Antivirus 2008 gives false positives, and pops up fake security alerts to trick you into buying Antivirus 2008 for $49.95-$79.95. This Online-Safe-Way.com popup reads:
“The page at http://Online-Safe-Way.com says:
Attention! Your PC may not have virus protection system. This may lead to your PC being infected. Now your system will be scanned for security risks. Press OK to continue.”
Another Online-Safe-Way.com pop-up reads:
“The page at http://Online-Safe-Way.com says:
Antivirus Plus will scan your system now. Please select “RUN” or “OPEN” when prompted to start the installation. This file has been digitally signed and independently certified as 100% free of viruses, adware and spyware.
Despite whatever Online-Safe-Way.com says, if you don’t remember how you got to Online-Safe-Way.com, the only spyware you’re infected with is Antivirus 2008.
So just block Online-Safe-Way.com.
Antivirus2008 Threat Level:
Antivirus2008 is just more rogue anti-spyware, in the lines of PCcleaner. Antivirus2008 may have been installed by a Trojan. Antivirus2008 might launch fake system alert popups. This Antivirus2008 popup is supposed to scare you into buying the fake antispyware.
Unless you like getting ripped off, don’t download the software the Antivirus2008 popup recommends.
