Abobet: Abebot
April 6th, 2008 | Posted in Abobet, Rogue Anti Spyware, Trojan Abebot, TrojansAbebot Threat Level:
Abebot is a backdoor Trojan that lowers your Internet Explorer security settings, but most often Abebot appears in fake security alerts from rogue antispyware like PC Anti-Spyware. This Abebot popup is supposed to scare you into buying the fake antispyware. It may read:
“Warning!!!
File: C:\WINDOWS\wml.exe
Threat:Abebot
Click here to visit PC-Antispyware web site.”
Or
“System Integrity Scan Wizard
Warning: Your ocmputer may have critical errors in Windows registry and file system!”
Unless you like getting ripped off, don’t download the software the Abebot popup recommends.
You’re not really infected with Abebot, you’re infected with fake anti-spyware that you need to remove.
