Trojans install themselves secretly onto your computer, most often through your downloading a simple email attachment (often .avi, .pif, .exe, and even .jpg files.) Most Trojans are able to gain complete control over your PC after installation. With this control, the Trojan and the hacker behind it may change your system settings, delete important files, steal your passwords, and watch your computer acitivity.

Slow computer performance. Even just one to two Trojans can clog your bandwidth and cause your computer performance to slow. Because types of Trojans silently and secretly work in the background, you won’t be able to easily detect the Trojans. If your computer is taking long periods to reboot or if your Internet connection is unusually slow, these may be signs that your computer is infected with Trojans.

New desktop shortcuts or switched homepage. Trojans may change your Internet settings or redirect your default homepage to point to another web site. Trojans may even add new desktop shortcuts on your PC. If you want to avoid these problems, keep your computer Trojans-free and remove all traces of Trojans.

Annoying popups on your PC. Trojans may bombard your computer with popup ads, sometimes even when you’re not signed online. Trojans may prevent regular Internet activity and track your surfing habits as well as your personal information. Remove Trojans immediately because the more traces of Trojans you have the more popups you’ll see on your computer.
