ServerTest is one of the keywords we use for a browser hijacker else known as Yeadesktop.com. A browser hijacker is a type of computer security threat that may not look too obvious at first. This program will modify your browser’s settings for monetary purposes. Of course, a browser hijacker cannot steal your money or your credit card information, but it does not mean that it can be taken lightly. It is important that you remove ServerTest from your computer immediately. If left to its own devices, this browser hijacker could end up exposing you to potentially harmful content, thus leading towards a malware infection.

Our security experts say that ServerTest is a WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) hijacker, and such program could be a little bit hard to remove for an average computer user. Now, how are WMI hijackers different from other similar programs? WMI is a part of any Windows OS that allows controlling and managing applications and devices in the operating system. The WMI can change system settings, permissions, and properties. In other words, if cyber criminals aim for this utility, users might end up with a program that is really tricky to remove.

As far as browser hijackers that aim for WMI are concerned, they mostly modify the Target line in the browser’s properties. When that happens, changing browser’s settings or even resetting them would not change anything because the modifications entered at the Target line level would remain the same. And if ServerTest changes your homepage, resetting your browser would not solve anything.

Since ServerTest is just another name for Yeadesktop.com, we know that this program is another version of Yeabests.cc. We also know that there are other variations of this browser hijacker, too. And each variation may change your homepage to something else. For instance, some of the versions modify target homepage to yeadesktopbr.com.

Users often download and install ServerTest accidentally because this browser hijacker does not have a direct distribution source. Instead, it comes bundled with freeware that users download from file-sharing websites. Once again, we would like to point out that it is important you check the reliability of the software distributor before downloading or installing anything. Even if you install it, checking each and every step in the installation wizard is always a good idea. Computer security experts point out that users often end up adding unnecessary and dangerous programs to their systems because they breeze through installation without thinking.

Removing ServerTest might be slightly complicated because you will need to delete a lot of modifications manually. We will give you a list of directories you need to check below this description, but if you do not want to deal with this on your own, you can always scan your PC with the SpyHunter free scanner and then delete all the malicious files automatically.

What’s more, if you invest in a licensed antispyware tool, you will be able to protect your computer from similar threats in the future. Therefore, do not hesitate to acquire one.
