Search.ozipcompression.com is a search engine that comes with a program called OZIP. However, our analysis has revealed that it hijacks a browser’s homepage and other settings. As a result, we have classified it as a browser hijacker and recommend that you remove it from your PC. Not only can it hijack your browser’s settings, but also subject you to modified search results, and by modified we mean full of promotional links. We are positive that the objective of this hijacker and its accompanying program is to generate advertising revenue because from a practical point of view both of them are next to useless.

This hijacker’s developers do not hide the fact that they are in the business of online advertising. As stated in OZIP’s website Ozipcompression.com, “Zoekyu Technology combines PC, mobile applications, and the highest quality advertising resources, build a service platform for advertisers and publishers.” So the company that developed and currently owns this hijacker is called Zoekyu Technology which might be an alias of Hongkong Zoekyu Technology Limited. To our knowledge the latter company is still doing business, but there is no such information about Zoekyu Technology. Whatever the case may be, it is clear that regardless of the name of the developer, both of these companies are in the online advertising and adware developing business. Now let us take a look at how this application is distributed.

While researching Search.ozipcompression.com, we have found that its primary distribution website is Ozipcompression.com. However, as mentioned, it comes bundled with an application called OZIP, supposed file archiver that does not do all that much, so its usefulness is debatable. The odd thing about this application is that it requires you to check the installation of Search.ozipcompression.com if you want to install OZIP. This is a practice that is also used by a hijacker known as Gsrch.com, which is bundled with UpdateStar Password Finder. So technically speaking, these two hijackers do not infect your computer, but you give your consent to install them. Nevertheless, this is a dishonest distribution method which is set to get malware on your computer. Now that you know how this hijacker is distributed we do not recommend getting OZIP because it simply does not work. Let us discuss how this program and its accompanying browser hijacker function.

For starters, OZIP can open file archives, but it cannot create them, so it is not very practical. Furthermore, we believe that this program is just a skin for functions that are already in Windows because you can open a file archive without having third-party software. Hence, this application gives you the false impression that it is unique while utilizing built-in Windows functions. However, our primary concern is that Search.ozipcompression.com is set to hijack Google Chrome’s homepage/new tab page and search provider, so this program’s developers want you to use it as much as possible, and that is understandable because all companies what people to use their products, but this hijacker does this for all the wrong reasons.

Our research has revealed that Search.ozipcompression.com’s searches are processed by Google Custom Search, so essentially you are using Google.com, but with a wild twist. We have found that Zoekyu Technology has configured this hijacker to include promotional links in its search results. The promoted links should be featured at the top of the search results page above the real search results. You may not be able to differentiate between the promotions and legitimate search results and click on the promotional links. This is dangerous because there is no way of knowing whether Zoekyu Technology promotes legitimate content. We believe that this company might do business with shady entities and as a result, your computer can become infected with malware.

So if you want your computer to remain malware free, we invite you to use our guide and delete it. Our tests have shown that Search.ozipcompression.com will be removed along with OZIP by uninstalling this program via Control Panel. Remember that both it and the browser hijacker do not offer anything useful and can only make you trouble. In closing, we suggest that you scan your computer with an anti-malware program to make sure that no malware is hiding on your system.
