Search By myMusic Extension is not at all a new browser extension and somehow it has managed to slip our crosshairs so far. In fact, this questionable Google Chrome browser extension seems to have been released back in April, 2016. It has not become a popular tool, though, this may be one of the reasons we have not caught it before. However, we have seen dozens of very similar extensions emerging, including myMusic Start, moviesNet Search, and musicNet Start, which all seem to be the creation of the very same team. We have labeled this application as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) since it does not pose a dangerous threat to your system and definitely not a direct one. Yet, we are hear to tell you what we have found out about this PUP so that you can be more prepared to protect your computer from possibly questionable third-party web content that may put your system security at risk. We advise you to remove Search By myMusic Extension from your browser as soon as possible. Please read on to find out why we believe that this is the best solution to protect your PC.

You may have never seen or visited the official website at myappline.com/utilities/musicsearch or the Chrome web store at chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/search-by-mymusic/obblmbkdkkclcpimlbegbpokghbghegk, yet, you have this PUP installed in your browser. We will shortly tell you how this possible but first, let us tell you about the official ways. The website promotes around a dozen questionable applications. We do not advise you to install any one of these. From the web store page you learn that not even 20 thousand users have installed this PUP although it seems to have been around almost two years. Not only that, there is not even one single review given, which is quite suspicious, to be frank. Another suspicious thing about this tool is that when you are installing it, you may get redirected on a new tab to games.playzonenow.com/wim/lp/offer/special.php?t=myappline&ct=ye61strtrfnrml.118 or any similar page that claims that your installation process is only at 60% and you are led to believe that it will be finished only if you add another tool to your browser. This is a rather deceptive way to promote an application. This should already be enough for you to delete Search By myMusic Extension but there is more and worse.

We have found that this PUP can also be spread in questionable and deceptive ways. The less damaging is when you directly install this PUP by clicking on an unsafe third-party pop-up ad or a compromised link after which you get redirected to a malicious page that will drop this tool behind your back. In this case, your only potential threat may be this single PUP. However, if you were to click on the wrong advertisement on the wrong website, chance are you could download a whole bundle of threats. You can also download a bundle filled with PUPs and malware infections when you want to download a free or cracked program, or a free movie from a shady torrent or freeware site. If you want to be sure that your computer is clean, we suggest that you run a malware scanner as soon as you delete Search By myMusic Extension.

This is basically a totally unnecessary tool without any real benefit to you. Please note that if you want access to online streaming music or music videos, you can find lots of reliable and free websites on the net, which you can simply bookmark in your browsers. Remember that this extension only works in Google Chrome. When you install it, it changes your default search engine settings and makes sure that you homepage and new tab puts the focus of the cursor in the address bar, where you can type in your search keywords normally and hit the Enter key on your keyboard to see the desired search result. In this case, your queries are redirected to musix.searchalgo.com and then, forwarded to a possibly modified Yahoo search results page. This page however can contain potentially unreliable third-party ads and links, which may pose a threat to your virtual security. If you type "music" in your address bar and then, press the TAB key on your keyboard, you can enter your query and get the results straight from the promoted online music site, mymusic.gomusix.com. Please keep in mind that this PUP may also display questionable third-party ads while you are using its features. We suggest that you act now and remove Search By myMusic Extension from your PC.

The solution to your current issue with this PUP is very simple: You need to delete this browser extension. If you have never done this before, you can apply our instructions below. Remember that this threat could have entered your system along with other even more serious threats like adware programs, browser hijackers, Trojans, and so on. Leaving these unaddressed would be a big mistake. If you do not think you can tackle them yourself, we suggest that you install a trustworthy malware removal program, such as SpyHunter.
