SafeSearch by Raaz is a recently created browser extension that changes your homepage, new tab page, and search engine without any permission. Although it might seem like a browser hijacker, this application is classified as a potentially unwanted program (PUP), as users download it themselves. In many cases, it happens because they skip through the setup wizard’s steps, and then install suggested programs without noticing. The PUP might display sponsored links in search results that could lead to downloading more unwanted software. Even though this search engine claims that it does not collect any identifiable information, it does not mean that such data will not be collected when you enter one of the sponsored links, which belong to third parties.

There is a high chance you installed SafeSearch by Raaz accidentally. Probably, you got it bundled with another freeware application while downloading software from an untrustworthy file-sharing web page. As we mentioned above, it often happens when users do not read setup wizard’s steps, but rather click “next” or similar buttons to get over it sooner, although if you review installation steps, it could be possible to deselect the programs that are forced on you. After the PUP enters your computer, it adds an extension called SafeSearch, and it forces you to use SafeSearch by Raaz as your search engine. As it seems, the application is compatible only with Google Chrome, so it should not add any extensions to other browsers installed on your computer.

The biggest problem with the PUP is that it might display suspicious sponsored links that could offer you to download untrustworthy software. Some of these ads could not be related to the object you are searching for and it can display download links of other PUPs, adware or browser hijackers. Moreover, it is possible that third party websites could gather your private or non-private information because they have different Privacy Policy documents. If you do not want anyone to invade your privacy, you should avoid any ads that belong to third parties.

The program promises you safe and private browsing, but instead it creates possible risks by employing unreliable partners. The best way to avoid threats is to delete SafeSearch by Raaz from your system. Instead, you could continue using your previous search engine or any other one that can be trusted. Although it is not that hard to remove the PUP, still we will provide the instructions for inexperienced users who might be unfamiliar with the removal process.
