How to Remove MovieLand

Updated Sep 14, 2006

movielandMovieLand – also known as “Moviepass” or “Muvipaz” – is a peer-to-peer application that offers you legal downloads of music, movies, and more direct to your desktop. MovieLand offers you a free three-day trial download and may bill you $29.95 per month following the trial, unless you cancel MovieLand during its trial period. Once MovieLand installs on your PC, pop-ups may launch aggressively to remind you that payment is due after the trial and that you have violated their terms of service. MovieLand popups may override your computer’s other functions and Movieland may install various files to launch these popups every 10 minutes, making it difficult to remove. You can download MovieLand from its site, and MovieLand may also come bundled with other free software. www.MovieLand.com

Understanding MovieLand

If you’re infected with MovieLand, you should know what you’re fighting. I’ll explain some definitions related to MovieLand.

MovieLand May Be Adware

Adware is software designed to promote advertisements. Often, free utilities may install hidden adware, sometimes to earn money for the author to recover development costs. While adware is not always malicious, it can track your Internet activity and send this and other personal information from your computer to advertisers. When advertisers get this information, you may be a target for pop-up/pop-under advertisements, web browser toolbars, and spam.
