Hi JWOpera, when you boot your computer, hold down F8 and when prompted, go into safe mode which will stop the parasite from loading. If able, run you scanners there. Tell us how you get on. Failing that, click yes when asked if you want to do a system restore and go to a point before you got infected. The files will still be there but you should be able to delete them.

I got infected this past weekend and once I figured out that it was a virus, I tried the manual delete processes. Most worked, but like Archchone above, the main .exe file says I don’t have privileges to delete it. It no longer hijacks my IE or blocks certain websites, but I still get the annoying error dialogue boxes every 4-5 minutes saying my computer is infected, and the icon in my lower tray menu is still there and pops up with a warning message. It’s SO aggrevating! I already have Spybot and AOL spyware on my maching, I’m going to try another free fix I found. If that doesn’t work, I guess I’ll have to buy another program to get rid of it. Any other suggestions? I’m open. How can the world be rid of these malicious, annoying people who design these programs?

I’ve been deleting this darn IAV for three days on hubby’s computer, and it keeps coming back. I’ve deleted all the files, including those found in hidden files, and deleted all the registry keys, except one that wont allow me to modify or delete it. At this point there are no more pop=ups when the computer is started, but it is seriously hooked into Firefox and IE. Whenever I try accessing the web, it blocks my homepage, even after checking the setting for the homepage is correct.
Now what???
How do I get rid of the rest of it, and where do I look?

Thank you so much! I am finally free of that terrible program. It worked and only took a few minutes. I just cannot afford the other programs to clean up.
