How Did You Get Internet Antivirus Pro?
Wondering how Internet Antivirus Pro ended up on your PC? If you’re infected with Internet Antivirus Pro or other badware, perhaps you were using…
- Freeware or shareware: Did you download and install shareware or freeware? These low-cost or free software applications may come bundled with spyware, adware, or programs like Internet Antivirus Pro. Sometimes adware is attached to the free software to “pay” developers for the cost of creating the software, and more often spyware is secretly attached to free software to harm your computer and steal your personal and financial information.
- Peer-to-peer software: Do you use a peer-to-peer (P2P) program or other application with a shared network? When you use these applications, you put your system at risk for unknowingly downloading an infected file, including applications like Internet Antivirus Pro.
- Questionable websites: Did you visit a website that’s of questionable nature? When you visit malicious sites that are fishy and phishy, badware may be automatically downloaded and installed onto your computer, sometimes including applications like Internet Antivirus Pro. I recommend you use Firefox web browser, if you don’t already.
Understanding Internet Antivirus Pro
If you’re infected with Internet Antivirus Pro, you should know what you’re fighting. I’ll explain some definitions related to Internet Antivirus Pro.
Internet Antivirus Pro May Be Rogue Anti-Spyware
Rogue anti-spyware refers to anti-spyware/antivirus software of questionable value. Rogue anti-spyware may not be proven to protect your computer from spyware, may popup fake alerts or create many false positives about your PC being infected, or may use scare tactics to try to get you to purchase the application. Rogue anti-spyware software may be installed by a Trojan, come bundled with other software, or install itself through web browser security holes. While it is fairly rare, some rogue anti-spyware is created and distributed by known spyware or adware companies, and the rogue anti-spyware may install spyware or adware itself.
Often when you’re infected with rogue anti-spyware like Internet Antivirus Pro, you’ll see a false popup security alert like this:

Rogue Anti-Spyware Tactics
Typically, rogue anti-spyware such as Internet Antivirus Pro has one or more of the qualities listed below, which is why rogue anti-spyware is considered anti-spyware software of questionable value.
- False positives/fake alerts: Rogue anti-spyware may produce a large number of false positives or use fake alerts, noting that your computer is infected with spyware parasites or other threats that do not really exist.
- Copycat looks: Rogue anti-spyware may copy the look and feel of other legitimate or rogue anti-spyware applications. Often, rogue anti-spyware applications may appear as close clones of other rogue anti-spyware software.
- High pressure marketing: Rogue anti-spyware may use scare tactics or other aggressive advertising and marketing tactics to try to trick you into buying the rogue anti-spyware application. Often, rogue anti-spyware may produce false positives and fake alerts about your computer being infected.
- Poor detection/scan reporting: Rogue anti-spyware may produce poor reports when it scans your PC. For example, rogue anti-spyware may say your computer is infected 11 parasites, but not specify which spyware parasites or what type of parasites. Rogue anti-spyware may also report that your PC is infected with SafeAndClean, but not tell you which related files, DLLS, etc. were found on your computer.
- Weak scanning/detection: Rogue anti-spyware may not only poorly report on computer infection, but rogue antispyware may also poorly scan your PC. Rogue anti-spyware may skip over important folders and files of your computer that should be scanned to detect spyware.
Did Internet Antivirus Pro use these tactics to trick you into buying Internet Antivirus Pro?
Internet Antivirus Pro May Be a Trojan
Trojans install themselves secretly onto your computer, most often through your downloading a simple email attachment (often Trojans pose as harmless pictures). Most Trojans are able to gain complete control over your PC after installation. With this control, the Trojan and the hacker behind it may change your system settings, delete important files, steal your passwords, and watch your computer acitivity.
Infection Methods of Internet Antivirus Pro and Other Trojans
Most Trojans infect your computer by tricking you into launching an infected file. This poisoned file could disguised as a small file, such as a jpeg or other email attachment, or it might be downloaded via a website or FTP.
- Email: Your PC may be infected with a Trojan when you download infected email attachments, or sometimes even when you simply open an email. Many Trojans exploit security holes in Microsoft Outlook. You may be able to reduce your chances of getting infected by a Trojan by using a spam-blocking software.
- Websites: Your PC may be infected with a Trojan when you visit a rogue site. Many Trojans exploit security holes in Internet Explorer web browser so that by simply visiting a website you may unknowingly download a Trojan.
- Open ports: If your computer runs programs that provide file-sharing functions – such as AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), MSN Messenger, and more – you may open your computer up to vulnerabilities. Using file sharing through these applications may create a network that gives attackers the opportunity to remotely access your computer.

If you are having a problem deleting files, there is a program by Gipo Utilities called MoveOnBoot that will delete any file during a reboot. I have gotten rid of files with it that could not be removed any other way.
Ok i desperately need your help and would appreciate every bit of it.My computer
was infected with I believe Antivirus Pro and it only affected the Administrator
part of the computer and not Guest, I couldn’t go on the internet or anything.
So I downloaded and did a full scan with Malwarebytes and it found 4 infected
areas of the computer and I clicked remove and it said that they were removed
successfully the computer restarted etc. So then when I logged back on as
Administrator nothing popped up like it usually did (saying it’s infected) but I
still can’t search the internet in Administrator can you please help and inform
me on what might be wrong??? Do you think it’s still infected? It would be very
appreciated thanks and hopefully hear from you soon.
Instruction fail! So step 1 is kill the process, only when I hit ctrl-alt-del (or even try to run taskmgr.exe) I get the message “Application cannot be executed. The file taskmgr.exe is infected”. Also the search for files to delete turned up nada. Any anti-virus /anti-spyware that try to run fails because our friend prevents the executable from launching. Can someone who actually knows how to fix this problem please help.
i cant follow the directions given :( it keeps giving me this infection crap and wont let me open anything i cant access the internet, i cant open files, i cant even adjust the volume… help please
I have tried everything and nothing works. I’m losing hope. I’ve searched the internet tons of times, but end up with nothing. Can anyone help?
When I ty to end Internet Antivirus Pro processes, they show up again. I have tried it few times.
I have tried your stuff step by step and when I seach for the Anti-Virus Pro Files it can’t find them. what do I do?
I just got Antivirus Pro and first ran my Norton anti virus scan as it did not show seeing a virus. It did not delete the virus.
I ran my Webroot Spy Sweeper software and it caught and deleted the Antivirus Pro. It saw it as being an unauthorized advertisement and quarantined it.
Guess that is why Norton didn’t see it as a virus.
I am following your directions to the tee but when I found the files and tried to delete I received a message saying “Cannot delete access is denied” and Cannot delete Cannot read from the source file AND Cannot delete: Make sure the disk is not full or write protected or that the file is not in use. What can I do
A pop up offering a FREE download of anti virus called…..internet antivirus PRO was activated by me and in doing so I allowed this worm in which is busy blocking my access to the internet and switching my computor off while in use ! It is playing havoc with my laptop and I understand I need to have the computor ” cleaned ” and a bona fidi spyware programme needs to be purchased……the round trip is over R2000 !!
My girlfriend recently had problems with this and after some searching around i remembered Spybot-search and destroy, which is shareware and free (although they do need donations to exist and their existence is a bit of a comfort at times like this). I’m happy to report that apart from a few files that she had to delete manually Spybot took care of the problem for her.
I purchased this antivirus for 3 years in December 2008 now my pc is threatend to be attacked. Please tell me how to get som help.
I am having a similar problem. I deleted as much of it as i could, but then the main file was still left. After a few failed attempts at deleting it (received the message that hannah stated) i decided to go into the folder and delet it all manually. I deleted all but 2 things (the main IAPro and some other long file) i could delete the long file and then moments after it was rmoved from the recycling bin, it regenerated somehow… what i noticed was if you press don’t send on the error reoprt popup, that is sort of what gives it its boost (what regenerated the deleted file. I tried deleting it multiple ways, and even deleted it off of the Add Or Remove Programs setting in the CTRL PANEL. Someone please tell me how i can get this crap off my computor. thanks
I just got rid of this thing on a neighbor’s computer by following the manual removal steps. However, I had trouble ending the IAPro.exe process (it kept starting back up immediately). The reason was that there was a service call Guard Service running. Disable that service and then you can stop the IAPro.exe process successfully. The computer had no ska.exe process running and no ska.dll. Once I followed the other steps, though, it appeared to be gone.
I am following your directions to the tee but when I found the files and tried to delete I received a message saying “Cannot delete access is denied” and Cannot delete Cannot read from the source file AND Cannot delete: Make sure the disk is not full or write protected or that the file is not in use.
I even tried changing the name of the file so that I could delete it and no luck. Please help. I am ready to throw my laptop out the window!
Ditto to what Ray said. Followed your instructions and got the same results Ray did!
I am trying to rid my pc of internet antivirus pro, I followed you instructions. The program has gone but from task bar, but I keep getting the error report on IAPro.exe, and when I try to remove from task manager it keeps coming back, as do some of the reg entries. What did I do wrong? Although pc works alright I have a permanent windows error box on screen
I just dealt with this little bitch of a program and downloaded Malaware free to my desktop then installed it while ignoring Internet Antivirus Pro popups and alerts. Be patient. This program Malaware did exactly what it claims. VERY HAPPY with Malaware since my father was driving me crazy complaining about the incessant popups!!!
