If you have noticed Hkcmd.exe process running on your system, you should know that there is no need to panic because it is related to Hotkey Command Module. As it is a legitimate piece of software published by Intel Corporation, it is not obligatory to erase it from the system. It is known that this file might be a part of Intel graphics and chipset drivers and it will allow you to change the settings of graphics very quickly by using a keyboard. If you still do not want to see this process running on your system, you can just simply disable Hotkey Command Module. However, keep in mind that you will not be able to use this service after disabling.

You will be able to detect Hkcmd.exe if you follow this path C:\Windows\System32\hkcmd.exe. The average size of the file is about 275.63 KB; however, it is known that there are 264 versions of Hkcmd.exe. Unfortunately, not all of them are reliable, which is why you should be extremely cautious. If you suspect that Hkcmd.exe, which is running on your system, does not belong to Intel Common User Interface, you should better scan your system with an antimalware tool. It is especially true if you have detected Hkcmd.exe under C:\Program Files.

Even though the file might seem reliable, you should still be careful with Hkcmd.exe and other similar processes because cyber criminals might use the names of legitimate files for their creations. Our specialists have found out that the version of Hkcmd.exe, which does not belong to Intel, might be associated with Pahatia worm that has been detected in 2006 and which tends to spread by copying itself into local folders. As you can see, it is very important to make sure that the file belongs to Intel Common User Interface before letting it stay on the system.

If the version of Hkcmd.exe that resides on your system is unreliable, you should definitely take some actions in order to erase it together with malware. The removal of malicious software is not an easy process, which is why we recommend scanning your system with an antimalware tool, for instance, SpyHunter. You can use different applications as well, but just make sure that they are reliable. This criterion is very important because unreliable tools will not only remove Hkcmd.exe, but also might infect your system with even more undesirable software. Have you already scanned your computer with a reliable tool and removed malware associated with the presence of Hkcmd.exe? Thus, do not forget to keep a security tool enabled in the future in order to avoid similar unwanted software.
