Have you acquired Citypage.today from chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/city-page-today-home-page/omjifaanlgiocfonnjlengeomjfhgklg? If you have not, it is most likely that you acquired this browser hijacker using a third-party installer. The hijacker is unlikely to stand on its own, and, in most cases, it is represented by “City Page Today Home Page,” an extension that is compatible with Google Chrome only. This extension is classified as a potentially unwanted program because all it was created to do is to hijack your browser. When you install it, the hijacker takes over the New Tab. If New Tab is set up to open as the startup page of your browser, you might classify it as a browser hijacker. In reality, you need to click the “Click here to make this your homepage” button on the hijacker for this. Obviously, we do not recommend this because we do not recommend trusting this search tool altogether. Instead of trusting and interacting with it, you need to delete Citypage.today, and you can read this report to learn more about this.

The interface of Citypage.today is pretty interactive because you are permitted to change the background image at any point. On the left side of the page, you can find buttons allowing you to share the page, change the image, or select the preferred language. At the bottom of the page, you are introduced to “About us,” “Terms of Use,” “Privacy,” and “Contact Us” links. The first one introduces us to KDS Media, which is the creator of the hijacker and the PUP. The “Privacy” link routes us to a page where you can find more information about how the software works. For example, you are informed that third parties are heavily involved. So much that they can even employ data-tracking technologies to spy on users. Needless to say, you would not know about this unless you read this report or analyzed the Privacy Policy. It is important that you always check privacy policies of the programs and services you use because you want to be completely sure they are trustworthy. The home page of Citypage.today also provides us with quick-access links to such sites as foursquare.com, timeout.com, weather.com, and nytimes.com. These are legitimate, and you are at no risk when interacting with them. Then we come up to the search field.

Do you know why interacting with the search service offered by Citypage.today is dangerous? If you are familiar with the Privacy Policy, you know that this hijacker redirects to Bing Search. This infection does that to trick you into thinking that all results are authentic and beneficial, and that is not the case. The threat adds third-party links, and since we know very little about these parties, we cannot be 100% sure that they are trustworthy. In fact, it is likely that you would land on malicious websites promoting bogus deals and exposing you to security backdoors rather than on legitimate sites that correspond to your search queries. Although the statistics on the Chrome web store suggest that nearly 55 thousand users are already using City Page Today Home Page, that should not be an indication that this PUP and the Citypage.today hijacker are trustworthy. If you agree with our malware researchers, you will choose to delete this malware.

Whether Citypage.today has taken over your New Tab alone or along with the homepage, you should be able to get rid of it by removing City Page Today Home Page. Since this extension appears to be compatible only with Google Chrome, we have created a guide that shows how to eliminate it from this particular web browser. Of course, if you need help eliminating it from a different browser, you should post a comment below. Once you have Citypage.today removed, you need to inspect your operating system to check if other threats exist. Hopefully, they do not, but if they do, you do not want to waste any time. Quickly research the found threats – which you can do by checking the reports available on this site – and then decide how you can eliminate all of them. Our research team recommends utilizing anti-malware software because it can provide you with virtual protection as well. We suggest installing this software even if you end up deleting all unwanted programs, extensions, and hijackers manually.
