How Did You Get AdvancedCleaner?
Wondering how AdvancedCleaner ended up on your PC? If you’re infected with AdvancedCleaner or other badware, perhaps you were using…
- Freeware or shareware: Did you download and install shareware or freeware? These low-cost or free software applications may come bundled with spyware, adware, or programs like AdvancedCleaner. Sometimes adware is attached to the free software to “pay” developers for the cost of creating the software, and more often spyware is secretly attached to free software to harm your computer and steal your personal and financial information.
- Peer-to-peer software: Do you use a peer-to-peer (P2P) program or other application with a shared network? When you use these applications, you put your system at risk for unknowingly downloading an infected file, including applications like AdvancedCleaner.
- Questionable websites: Did you visit a website that’s of questionable nature? When you visit malicious sites that are fishy and phishy, badware may be automatically downloaded and installed onto your computer, sometimes including applications like AdvancedCleaner. I recommend you use Firefox web browser, if you don’t already.
Understanding AdvancedCleaner
If you’re infected with AdvancedCleaner, you should know what you’re fighting. I’ll explain some definitions related to AdvancedCleaner.
AdvancedCleaner May Be Rogue Anti-Spyware
Rogue anti-spyware refers to anti-spyware/antivirus software of questionable value. Rogue anti-spyware may not be proven to protect your computer from spyware, may popup fake alerts or create many false positives about your PC being infected, or may use scare tactics to try to get you to purchase the application. Rogue anti-spyware software may be installed by a Trojan, come bundled with other software, or install itself through web browser security holes. While it is fairly rare, some rogue anti-spyware is created and distributed by known spyware or adware companies, and the rogue anti-spyware may install spyware or adware itself.
Often when you’re infected with rogue anti-spyware like AdvancedCleaner, you’ll see a false popup security alert like this:

Rogue Anti-Spyware Tactics
Typically, rogue anti-spyware such as AdvancedCleaner has one or more of the qualities listed below, which is why rogue anti-spyware is considered anti-spyware software of questionable value.
- False positives/fake alerts: Rogue anti-spyware may produce a large number of false positives or use fake alerts, noting that your computer is infected with spyware parasites or other threats that do not really exist.
- Copycat looks: Rogue anti-spyware may copy the look and feel of other legitimate or rogue anti-spyware applications. Often, rogue anti-spyware applications may appear as close clones of other rogue anti-spyware software.
- High pressure marketing: Rogue anti-spyware may use scare tactics or other aggressive advertising and marketing tactics to try to trick you into buying the rogue anti-spyware application. Often, rogue anti-spyware may produce false positives and fake alerts about your computer being infected.
- Poor detection/scan reporting: Rogue anti-spyware may produce poor reports when it scans your PC. For example, rogue anti-spyware may say your computer is infected 11 parasites, but not specify which spyware parasites or what type of parasites. Rogue anti-spyware may also report that your PC is infected with SafeAndClean, but not tell you which related files, DLLS, etc. were found on your computer.
- Weak scanning/detection: Rogue anti-spyware may not only poorly report on computer infection, but rogue antispyware may also poorly scan your PC. Rogue anti-spyware may skip over important folders and files of your computer that should be scanned to detect spyware.

Kevin, AVG has problems trying to remove bad infections. You should get a paid antispyware/antivirus program like SpyHunter to completely remove the infection.
I was one of the victim…i hate that fake alert
i asked someone to help,he suggested me to download AVG 8.0 Free..
After i download(include install).i scan my computer..The result it gave was good..but i cant delete it and remove it..i clicked the but nothing happen..,after that.he tell me to run windows in safe mode and scan..also cannot…can someone help me????ARGH!!!!!!
I agree with the other people above me. I want my money back. My computer crashed two days ago. I used this program so it wouldn’t catch a virus and this program made it worst. I do not recommend this product. I paid $80 for this product and had to pay $40 for another Cleaner that did work.
10x ill removed with XoftSpySE 10x alot
The makers of advancedcleaner should have their hands cut off with a large knife so they cannot code anymore the rest of their lives. It is a bizzare coincidence that a company must use viruses to highjack your computer to get you to buy their product. I just finished getting rid of their trojans from my system – only took 5 hours of my own efforts and 3 hours of scanning my drives with AVG free anti-virus, but I finally have my computer back. My next step will be to find out who owns the company which sells it and where their home office is. If I am ever in their area I will be sure to drop by and pay the owner a visit personally.
PS- If your desktop has their annoying logo on it instead of your wallpaper, note it is a desktop displayed as a webpage. You cannot go to properties and change it the normal way, you must go to display properties>desktop>customize desktop buttom>web tab> then delete the web page it created as your desktop. It is not simply an image you can remove to change the appearance.
I want a refund on my credit card. This is the reason that your product is no longer on my PC and is no longer needed.
I had the computer crash on Thursday due to infected files .The pop-ups started appearing making it almost impossible to use the computer. All the pop-ups were for spy removal programs. I tried several times to buy and activate a program. They would either refuse my credit cart orThey could not be activated. My screen was covered with pop-ups.
For some reason your ad accepted my card.I had a difficult time getting it activated and it did remove some infections. The computer screen was still covered with pop=ups and your product never worked again. I tried “system restore” and it worked. The PC is now working fine and your product is no longer on it. I trird the phone # with a call back message.
I have the invoice. $94.50 Order#6232957. Order placed2008-03-20.
Am expecting an immediate response. DL
