Scams like Antivirus Trigger vary in their criminality -- sometimes the "anti-spyware software" is just a poor product, sometimes the rogue software is combined with a Trojan that will annoy you with popups and plant spyware onto your computer to be "removed" by the scam, and sometimes the con artists will charge your card multiple times. So the best thing to do is to cancel the card you gave them, and download some new, legit anti-spyware software that you run weekly to catch threats like these.
