It removes the .exe file for Malwarebytes as soon as it is installled. Try IObit Security 360. I was able to download and run, although it doesn't seem to delete everything. You should probably still use the Manual process described here in conjunction with any malware remover you can download.

On of the things this does is mess with your HOSTS file. The anti-virus that i used on my friends computer reset the HOSTS file to the Microsoft default.

I suggest investing in a really good antivirus program and be sure to keep the program updated. Any of the top progams should reset your HOSTS file to the MS default. Kapersky is *very* good, but some find it a bit difficult to use. You can't really go wrong with Norton or McAffee, as long as you keep it updated. I set my anti-virus to automatically update and let it do it thing.

If there is a way to manually reset the HOSTS file, i'll post it here.

Regardless, I *strongly* urge you to get a good anti-virus. Anti-virus Plus is merely annoying; there are bugs out there can can destroy your computer, steal your personal information, and leave your computer open for use by cyber-crimminals.

I eneded up with this trash on my pc after my foster son visited some site with movies.... at any rate I ran alot of programs to try and remove it inclding Virobot, spynot, ad-aware, a-squared, Hijackthis, ccleaner. I ran them in regular mode and the ones I could I also ran in safe mode. Between them they found alot of things.

One of the things this virus did was to re-direct or block any web pages I tried to load that could help me delete it. Anything with words such as spyware, virus etc... I had to do my searches at work and have a freind secure programs and send them to me via instant message. It also blocked any updates of my virus and antispam software.

I think I have conquered it except for one thing. Some pages referring to antivirus still don't load. Just a few, maybe 5-10% of what I click. But it still worries me...either it's still there in a reduced state or it changes some browser settings that I can't find to fix. It no longer re-directs either - it just wont open up pages, you get a message like the one you get if your offline.

Any ideas? This happens in all browsers I have, AOL, Firefox, IE and Goggle chrome.

Hi, Evelyn

Did you try my Antivirus Plus removal instructions?

Those will remove Antivirus Plus for free, but if and when you can, buy some sort of anti-spyware program to prevent future infections. It's definitely worth the investment.

Best,
Kris

Dear Sir or Madam:

I have a Antivirus Plus on my computer I accendently downloaded, and destroyed my regular Security of antivirus protection and security programs in AOL. How do I remove the Antivirus Plus manually. I do not have the income to remove it from other pay programs. The only pay program I have is AOL dialup service only. Please send any good information how to remove this virus on my computer.

Sincerely,
Evelyn Mateskella
